Sounds like he has an offer lined up with Maccabbi.
Honestly, the writing was on the wall on this one for awhile. It became a fargone conclusion when they signed Royal Ivey.
He's not NBA caliber. Hopefully he makes a career for himself overseas.

Good for him that he has an offer already. Did Ivey really sign a two year deal?

Is this the first leak in the history of the Presti regime?

Dude that is crap.
Personally I think Weaver just needs the right situation. Look at Bruce Bowen. He went undrafted played great (and maybe a little dirty) D, eventually learned how to shoot the 3 ball and became a nice role player who had finger prints on a couple of NBA championships.
I know Weaver isn't a starter, but the kid can play in the league.
Look at Bruce Bowens career highs.
8.2pts in 32minutes a game
3.9rebs in 33minutes a game
1.6dimes in 32minutes a game
1.4steals in 21minutes a game (in San Antonio he floated around 1 per 32min)
0.6blks in 32minutes a game
Now lets look at Weavers ROOKIE year.
Weaver played 20.8minutes a game.
5.3pts
2.3rebs
1.8dimes
0.8steals
0.4blks
Those are Bruce's CAREER HIGHS compared to Weavers rookie season. Is it really a stretch to think if Weaver was given 32minutes a night that he could hit Bruces career highs? Obviously he isn't the defender that Bruce was at his peak but Weaver isn't in his peak yet either.
If Weaver does end up over seas next season I have a feeling he will find his way back to the NBA.

wiff, Bruce Bowen was an elite defensive wing who made All Defensive Team 8 years straight, and also a guy who had a very odd career path in that he peaked far later than usual for a wing player. Kyle Weaver is already 24, and most of a wing player's development occurs in the mid twenties with a peak in the 26-29 range.
So, yes, it is an enormous stretch to look at anything Kyle Weaver has done so far and say 'hey, wait a minute, he could be Bruce Bowen!', especially considering he had Summer League scrubs beating him off the dribble a few weeks ago. Since Bruce Bowen is a player who peaked late, and did not put up any big numbers, you can pretty much make your argument for any mediocre guard in the league. But the fact is that Bowen is a highly atypical case - and Weaver's shown nothing at all that indicates he could be anything close to Bowen's caliber.

Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced today that the team has waived guard Kyle Weaver.
In two seasons with the Thunder, Weaver appeared in 68 games (19 starts) and recorded averages of 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest.

Well it's official. Weaver did little to distinguish himself in Summer League. I think he would have had to show better ability running the point and making decisions if he had any shot to remain on the team, and he didn't do that. When Ivey was signed, this was pretty much set in stone.
I hope he does well overseas. Maybe in a couple years he'll be able to catch on again somewhere and crack a rotation.

Swingmen are a dime a dozen but good character guys are more rare, Kyle seemed like a good guy hopefully he goes on to a fulfilling career be it in Europe or North America.

Realgm wiretap says that Weaver's passing up guaranteed money with Maccabi Tel Aviv to try and make it with another NBA team. Ten teams supposedly interested.
I liked Weaver at Washington State and kind of hoped the Wizards would draft him a while back.
However, following stats of his from OKC and comments earlier in this thread, to my knowledge as a pro he seems like a marginal role player in the NBA at best. Weaver was behind Westbrook and Sefolosha. Harden was going to play in OKC and so was Maynor. Weaver was odd man out. His D-League stats don't look world beater good. Weaver I know has some defensive ability and has size at PG. I remember him as clutch at WSU.
Right now I'm wondering where Weaver goes and if he's making the right move turning down Maccabi Tel Aviv.
He could be making the right move because Maccabi has veteran international players at G. They signed Mikhail Torrance, a big PG (Wiz worked him out and I thought he might be their pick in round 2) that might have a better chance of playing than Weaver. They signed Richard Hendrix, a teammate of Torrance' at Alabama, as well as Jeff Foote, the 7 footer out of Cornell. So, Weaver wasn't guaranteed to play over there whatever the money.
OTOH Weaver's turning down GUARANTEED money. Pro basketball is a business. That team's well established and he'd get his pay on time. Also, he'd be playing on a high-level, successful club. I wonder what happens if the team Weaver accepts an invite to in the NBA doesn't give him guaranteed money. What if he gets cut in training camp. Or, what if he goes to another team where he'll never play?
Gutsy move for Weaver to turn down the money, but I'm not sure it's a wise move.

I think it's tough for him. He played 1000+ minutes his rookie year and started a bunch of games and now he's on the outside looking in.
He could be a 10th-12th man on an NBA team. His problem is he hasn't developed his PG skills whatsoever, and his defense isn't really that great. He had trouble in summer league keeping up with some of those scrubs. I don't think he'll get a guaranteed contract in the NBA right now, it'd be better like you said to take the guaranteed money overseas and look for a shot later on in the NBA.
