Anyone interested in Josh Smith?

Post#1 » by Air Durant35 » Thu Nov 4, 2010 10:18 pm

Heard he is on the Hawks' trade block...think we should pursue him? We have a lot of expirings if that's what Atlanta wants. As well as draft picks. I'm starting to think we wont re-sign Jeff Green so why not make J-Smoove, who has 2 years left on his deal, his replacement?

It'd probably take Ibaka and Harden to get Josh Smith. Atlanta wants cheap deals (i.e. rookie contracts) in return.

I'd take Josh Smith in a quick second.

Why not give them Green instead?

Green/Fillers for Smith

Westbrook
Sefelosha
Durant
Smith
Kristic

Harden/Ibaka/Cook/Maynor and Collison (when he's back) off the bench. Sooner rather than later, if something like this were to happen, I'd want Ibaka to take Kristic's starting spot (yes, he's not a center, but with Smith alongside, I believe it could work way better than with Green).

Josh Smith is Blake Griffin when he applies himself, which it feels as if he's beginning to do. Can run the floor, great rebounder and defender, can jump out the gym, etc. Plus, he's only a few years older than Blake.

Go after em, and give anybody short of Durant and Westbrook to get em. Trade our picks, etc. Doesn't matter. We just need somebody down low.

The problem is that Atlanta really needs a center (Horford is a true PF), which they can't get from the Thunder. So perhaps a 3-way trade with... the Clippers?

ATL: gets Kaman, 1st from OKC / gives up Smith
OKC: gets Smith / gives up Green & Krstic
LAC: gets Green & Krstic / gives up Kaman

That seems like a lot for the Thunder to give up, but I think it would be worth it for Smith. That would give a 4-man rotation of Smith, Ibaka, Collison, and Aldrich. That's not too shabby.

As a clipper fan, I'd love to have Green as a SF instead of the Gomes / Butler crapfest going on right now. Plus having a tandem of Krstic & DeAndre Jordan at C doesn't sound too bad either.

Don't know if Atlanta would go for it though.
I move around so much, I've just decided to start rooting for everybody.
Except the Heat.

I assume he is only available becouse of price so they wouldn't want anyone who needs a pay rise or who is already on money. Any deal would have to start with Aldrch or Ibaka
