Thoughts on D Cook?

Anyone else think he is a guy to keep around for awhile? He could become our super sub when we need some points in a hurry. The dude has no conscious shooting 3's. His defense has also been much better after a rough start earlier in the year, and he is a solid rebounder. Good locker room guy as well.

I think Cook is someone who Brooks actually handled pretty well. He benched him until he started doing other things that were useful.
Him and Nazr are the only guys expiring this summer. Retaining Nazr depends a lot on how Brooks feels about Aldrich. I dunno if Cook has any sort of competition for his services.
He's the 10th man on this team, though. I think he might cost more than you'd want to pay for a 10th man. It's not hard to find a good shooter in the draft, is it?

Interesting thought. Do you think we should target a bulls-eye 3 point shooter in the upcoming drafts, a stretch 4, or a low post scorer?

3pt IMO. Our second unit is pretty harmless except for Cook's crazy shots. A 3PT shooter SF would compliment well a Maynor/Cook/Collison/Aldrich bench. Thunder would feel flexible to trade Sefolosha. He is a valuable player just like Green but I don't like him here.
Our paint is pretty good imo. We just need a couple of plays. Perkins, Mohammed, Ibaka and Collison are not offensively useless as boxscores sugest.

I like Cook and considering this team has slightly more than zero 3pt shooting I think he has a niche he could fill.
I can't imagine him signing a very big contract in the off season simply because he hasn't played a whole lot. Of course one nice playoff series can change all that.
I'd like to see the thunder re-sign him.

If cook is smart he will resign with the thunder. Sure he could probably make a few more dollars elsewhere on a bad team or be forced into a very limited role such as only shoot 3's or don't play at all. He has good value and if the thunder were to move harden into the starting lineup or trade thabo, he could be forced into a major role. I think that all players except green would love to be part of a winning team and have chance to compete for a title because that clearly is what this thunder team will be about for many years to come.
I think that his days as a starter are over as a starter on a playoff team but he could become a key 6th man like jason terry or jamal crawford.

I won't mind resigning him. he seems to be fitting in well.
We'll probably see latavious signing over this season. I don't think there's alot of low post scorer around at where we'll be drafting, so probably a stretch 4/5 or a defensive presence at the 3 who CAN hit some 3.
