2011/2012 Thunder?

Post#1 » by theokie » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:07 pm

Its never to early to look ahead til next year... well maybe it is but whatever.

What do you guys think the roster is gonna look like.

Heres our contracted roster for next year

PG: Westbrook/Maynor/Robinson/Ivey
SG: Sefolosha/Harden
SF: Durant
PF: Ibaka/Collison
C: Perkins/Aldrich/Mullens

Cook and Mohammed are our only free agents, and Cook is restricted. We also only have 1 draft pick and thats our first rounder which will be something in the mid 20s.

As opposed to the last couple years, we arent really going to be looking to add any pieces, instead our main move will be extending Westbrook. This is too hard to predict what kinda money we can offer though with the current CBA expiring.

Do we try to bring back Nazr or Cook? I doubt we go after any FAs so it seems if we make any moves it will be via trade. Robinsons 4.5 million expiring contract will look very appealing. If we let Cook walk i could see us trading for a backup SF with a package starting with Robinson. Or maybe that void could be filled by our draft pick, either Singler or Jordan Hamilton could be available.

I also could see us letting Mohammed go, but all that depends on if Aldrich develops into a capable back up or not. IF the cap stayed the same as it is this year wed have about 7 million in cap space to work with, so it would be interesting to see what Presti would do with the extra cap space. Mohammeds looked good thus far though so I wouldnt mind seeing him come back but at a fraction of what hes making now.

Westbrook / Maynor / Ivey
Harden / Cook / Robinson
Durant / Sefolosha
Ibaka / Collison
Perkins / Mohammed / Cole Aldrich / Mullens

Cole Aldrich can't set any and I don't think there'll be a screener availabl at the Draft. So I think we'd better stick with Mohammed.

I'd like to have both. Sign Cook and Mohammed. So i'd spend Aldrich, Sefolosha, picks and some small pieces to get more outside shooting. I'd take a tweener pf(Latavious Williams, maybe), two spot up swingmen at least. FA to fill roster.

But what we need most now is a head coach.

The Thunder's biggest need going forward (aside from resigning Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka) is to get a bench scorer. A Gary Neal/George Hill/Jason Terry/Jamal Crawford type guy so that Brooks feels comfortable starting Harden and playing him ~35 minutes a night.

I can see us moving Nate cause i think he still have more value than ivey would in a trade. Probably minny still interested in another PG or perhaps Bulls/Bucks could do with a backup PG? Probably move for either a pick or a backup SF/PF. Signing Latavious to a contract if we got a pick for Nate.

I'm liking resigning cook more and more. I mean morrow only got 4m/yr, brewer 4-5m, tony allen 3m, redick and matthews 6m. So i suppose cook probably can get 3-4m.

Then draft probably a scorer at SF. leaving a slot to take on a veteran.

What's nate trade value anyway?
