Had we kept Green hypothetically

Okay so the discussion about Durant becoming a PF like KG did after his first few years in the league kinda got me thinking, what if we kept Green?

This is all assuming Durant would've bulked up this off season and learned how to play the 4 and Green would've played at the 3 where he belongs.

Our starting line up for next season would've ended up as
Westbrook
Harden
Green
Durant
Krstic(or one of the off season targets)

That's pretty decent. Although Ibaka would get minimal play time like this, how good would this squad be? Could they have been contenders assuming Durant was as good at playing the 4 as he is at the 3?

And with Ibaka's emergence since the trade is there any real reason for Durant to try to learn the PF position? I mean if we keep Brooks he's going to get playtime at the position again since Brooks loves small ball.

Green's not very good. Ibaka and Harden are both better than him. Perkins is better than Krstic. Plus, Green probably gets more than what we paid for Perkins in the offseason if he sticks around here.

This is water under the bridge. The trade was great.

Durant at 4? I don't like it. And I actually like Green playing PF more than Durant. And on top of that I like Thunders new lineup more.

Durant has a height advantage at the 3, if he move to the 4 he'll lose that but probably gain some decent ballhandling(relative to other 4) but there are quite a few perimeter based PF so not sure if it's good.

If green had remained durant will probably play more 4, but now it'll be either it's really his best position or because of small ball.

I rather let it come naturally than him being forced to grow into it.

Oh I'm not regretting the trade a bit. I love love love it. I just see us having problems having enough offense. When Thabos on the floor. Its pretty frustrating to see teams completely ignore him and clog the paint so Russ or KD can't drive.

The team will be fine once they have more time, Brooks isn't a coach that will make instant adjustment.if westbrook and durant can have a spacer to bring their offense to similar level before the trade, it'll be great.

Please no more small ball. Durant learning post game and bulking up too early is unrealistic, and it's not worth because Green is less productive at SF than Ibaka at PF.

Green is bad. Now the fact that he's in a bigger market, more people are realizing it. There have been a ton of articles recently of people writing about how he's actually hurting the celtics

say no to green

Ibaka's numbers since the AS:

11pts 9reb 3blks on 52% shooting.

That's in his second year, in just under 30 minutes.

Thunder are significantly better off with Ibaka.

I'm a Kings fan, but I've been paying attention to the Thunder since last years playoffs and I have to say, that trade for Perkins was probably the best trade in the last 5 years. I thought Green was overrated and Perkins brought to the Thunder what they were missing -- defense. Since the Kings season is over, I'm rooting for the Thunder here on out (except April 11th). Please kick the crap out of the Lakers if you play them in the playoffs :D

Awesome.

BTW, Magic Randolph could find his niche here.
