Playoff seed

Post#1 » by BIG EDDIE » Sat Apr 9, 2011 12:06 pm

Our next game in LA will be a very deciding game. If we win, then we move within 1 game of the Lakers and would have a realistic chance to grab the 2nd seed, which would be great. If we lose, than that pretty much means we stay at the 4th place.
Either way Im happy. What I would not want is the 3rd seed. Somehow I think that would mean a much more difficult playoff schedule than the 4th place.
So I say we push for the 2nd seed by beating LA tomorrow, and if we lose we just might as well relax the next 2 games and rest a bit.

What scenario would you guys prefer?
Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

Anything that avoid Memphis in the first round.

For me, the higher seed the better.

I know this is a pipe dream. But how awesome would it be if LA fell all the way to the 4 seed and we had the 2 getting to face Dallas with home court in the 2nd round.

Not that much of a pipe dream at this point. We have two winnable games (Kings, Bucks w/o Bogut). The Lakers get the Spurs next game. Only the last Lakers game vs the Kings is really holding it up.

Oh, and having the Mavs lose.

Spurs will obviously tank that Laker game. They don't want the lakers to fall to 4th and play them in the second round

I mean, they still haven't clinched HCA against the Bulls.

Both very valid points.
Not sure which one is more important for the Spurs, but I would guess they try to win out and secure home court all they way.
Therefore I think the LAL-SAS game is 50-50, but then LAL is probably gonna win their last game in Sacramento anyways, so LAL will most likely not drop to 4th place.
The only possible scenario however would be that LAL loses 1 of 2 and Dallas wins both their games left and Dallas gets 2nd, LAL 3rd and OKC 4th.
This would still give LAL a disadvantage if they face Dallas in 2nd round and maybe give a chance for Dallas to beat LA and us to face Dallas in WCF.
But at this point, this is too much speculation. Let's win first tonight's game at Sacramanto and hope for SAS to beat LA. THEN, I will start hoping to move up in the standings.

Rockets fan here, hoping to do you guys a favor and beat down the Mavs tonight. Meaningless game for us, but we will always play hard. And for Rockets, it's always good to beat the Mavs!

I think regardless I'd rather play them in the 2nd round than San Antonio, but I'm in theminority.

Really, I'd rather play the Mavs in the second round.

Lakers win, they're the 2 seed.

Bynum hurt something in his right leg tonight, potentially his knee. The MRI is tomorrow and he could be out for a while

i rather play Lakers in the 2nd round too. if we're going to get experience and be tested, no one to test us better than the defending champion. As a side note, i would like the Lakers to be tested in a series with the Grizzlies in 1st round.
