Interesting blog post. I wouldn't consider Perk a franchise center, but that's just me. Anyways, back on topic, the Celtic's, at trade deadline time, were looking for a SF, not a SG. Unless Harden can play the 3 (correct me If Im wrong). After Marquis Daniels went down, Pierce did not have a legit backup. Maybe the C's were looking at bring in Harden and Green for Perk and Nate instead of Krstic. That might make sense because Harden would be excellent in backing up Ray Allen, but the Celtics would still need a quality center. The Celtics GM, Danny Ainge, has said he would like to re-sign Green and hinted that he would like to Green have a more enhanced role, possibly starting over Pierce. That would be interesting to see.

You know I don't think many people are factoring in what Presti did for the Celtics.
Just shy of 4 years ago Sam Presti drafted Kevin Durant and shipped out the face of the franchise at that point in time in Ray Allen for a 5th over all pick and some warm bodies that were being paid way to much.
I don't know how many GM's would be willing to gift another team a franchise player for an unproven rookie and Wally Z's contract. Sure I know other people were involved with the trade but really if it wasn't for Sam Presti pulling the trigger on that trade no way would have KG gone to Boston. Now Boston has had 3 seasons to win rings. They managed to win one. Not to shabby.
Now I'm not really one for conspiracy theory's but I do believe in the you scratch my back I'll scratch your concept.
Honestly 3 years is a life time in the world of sports it was time for Ainge to scratch Presti's back. It's not like Presti sent him total trash, Green is going to wind up being a nice SF in the league.
But eventually you have to pay the piper. Or in this case Presti.

Yeah, I heard it mentioned during one of the games that it took a long time for Harden to develop any facial hair when he was a teen. He was so excited when it finally came in that he didn't want to shave it off, despite his mother's pleadings. So yeah, beard.
