From the wiretap

Kendrick Perkins was arrested in Beaumont, Texas early on Saturday morning, according to a local television station.

Oh man. I never even thought of this. Big contract extension, rumors of excessive drinking, coming off an injury and lock out.

NBA star Kendrick Perkins says he is innocent of public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges filed against him after an altercation outside a Beaumont sports club early Saturday.
Port Arthur attorney Langston Adams released a written statement on behalf of Perkins, claiming that a Beaumont Police Department report of the arrest was inaccurate.
Perkins, who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, had been visiting his hometown to host a youth basketball camp when he was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday at The Ticket on College Street. His arrest came after a physical fight broke out between several groups of people at the club.
Perkins was released after posting bonds totaling $300 on the two charges and was at home Sunday recovering from injuries received during the incident, according to Adams' statement.
Cell phone videos made at the club that night show "a different story" of the events leading to Perkins' arrest, Adams said in the statement.
He asked anyone who witnessed or has video of the incident to call his office at: (409) 982-1780.

You can add this to the list, although some of you may approve of it:

As much as coach Scott Brooks chafes at GM Sam Presti's meddling, his presence in the locker room, and his demands that the Thunder continue to improve from within, the organization is a lot more concerned with how Kendrick Perkins treats Russell Westbrook.

After arriving from the Celtics last season and being looked at as the veteran leader Oklahoma City needed to take the next step to compete for a title, Perkins went hard at Westbrook with his verbal criticisms, often saying that the Thunder's playmaker couldn't match Rajon Rondo as a playmaker. Those words didn't sit well with Westbrook, who already had been criticized for shooting too much and was the subject of a benching heard-round-the-NBA when the Thunder played the Mavs in June.

The Thunder gave Perkins a new four-year deal worth $35 million, so the team is committed to him. But it would like him to ease up on Westbrook. A lot.

I take anything from New York media with a grain of salt.

Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
