Reggie Jackson close, Cook questionable, Westbrook doubtful

No one was really doubting that we'd have any problem signing him, but it is still nice to see.
With practice getting underway in minutes, I'm hearing the Thunder shouldn't have a problem signing rook Reggie Jackson (24th overall pick)
I'm told the team & Jackson are in the process of signing the standard rookie scale deal which, if finalized, will allow him to participate
As for Cook...
As for Daequan Cook, there was no agreement on an extension as of Thursday night. Unless something has changed, he might not be in camp 2day
Doesn't look like he'll be practicing today
Now for Westbrook...
Today is also the first day the Thunder can offer Westbrook an extension. The two sides are talking, but it's quiet and it could be awhile
Looks like it will be a while before they come to an agreement. Westbrook's group almost surely believes he's worth max while I'm sure Presti is going to try to start the contract at a little less than max. In the end, I'm sure he'll be getting max. Max deal for Westbrook would start out at 12.9 million a year. If he makes all-nba team again this year, it will go up to 15.5 million
Max deal #'s under new CBA: 25% is $12.9 M
http://twitter.com/#!/chadfordinsiderAlso, did anyone else know that teams are now allowed to carry 13 players on their active roster instead of 12? I found that very interesting

Added to the Thunder's camp roster are Marcus Dove (Ok. State), Anthony Goods (Stanford) and Terrence Roberts (Syracuse).

Jackson is a given.
Cook, I think they'll get it worked out and keep him. My main logic for this is that we haven't heard anything about the Thunder doing anything prior to the season (other than the obvious move of letting Nate go somewhere else) shows that they want to make a run at it with the same guys from last season.
Westbrook will be interesting. There's been all of the drama from the Mavs series, the fact that he is kind of a borderline max guy, and the unknown of the new CBA. I hope they get it taken care of, but could see it being a summer thing (if he signs an offer sheet, then their max would be lower than what we can offer, so what is the harm kind of logic).

Agreed. The only reason I could see them not keeping Cook is if he gets an exorbitant offer elsewhere or the Thunder have their eyes on an amnestied vet like RJ.
I'm still on the fence whether or not they should just pony up max dollars for Russ. Russ seems the type who may let a contract year be a distraction. I think they'll get something done, but giving Russ max or near-max dollars is taking a gamble on his development for sure.

i'm surprised the Reggie Jackson signing isn't done already, pay him #24 pick money and that's that.

Max deal for Westbrook would start out at 12.9 million a year. If he makes all-nba team again this year, it will go up to 15.5 million
So... He has no incentive to sign an extension this year. He's going to make another All-NBA team, which means the smart play for him is to wait and sign his extension next year.

maybe, but then he'd be a RFA. All we would have to do is match someone else's offer and they can't offer as much as we can. Other teams could only offer the 12.9 million, so if OKC is smart Westbrook will only start out at 12.9 million.
I could be wrong, someone find something official

Cook re-signed 2/7.5M. A bit too much annualy for him but I like that it's only two years. Expires as Harden / Ibaka are eligible for extensions.

Reggie Jackson signed to a rookie contract.
Strange that it took this long, but I'm sure the new CBA had something to do with it.

Russ will definitely get max dollars, no question about it. After his performance last season, I'm fine with it as well. He's going to be a top 3-5 PG in this league for years to come, may as well wrap him up on the Thunder.
We definitely need a vet swingman though. Someone like Battier would've been absolutely perfect to settle the ego's and balance the chemistry.

Definitely agree about Battier... Sadly that ship sailed. By our publicized lack of contact with him, I'm really guessing we'll head into the season with the guys on roster right now. Continuity could be a huge advantage with the compressed offseason and schedule this year.

there'll be posturing on both sides, but don't you think durant set the tone for this group? i think westy loves the team.

Gotta hope this is the case. Rose just signed a 5/94 extension, RW will be eligible for that kind of contract next offseason if he makes another All NBA team.
