OKC Thunder @ Dallas Mavericks Game 3

Durant Believes He's Due For Breakout Game

Kevin Durant is shooting 34.1 percent from the floor entering Oklahoma City's Game 3 against the Mavericks.

Durant, who hit for 49.6 percent during the regular season, believes he’s due for a breakout performance.

“I do,” Durant said, “because I come in and I put in the work. It's not like I'm just sitting around and waiting for it to come to me. I try to force it a little bit with my work.”

If someone read this without knowing we're up 2-0 in the series, he would think we're down 0-2.
Hopefully KD comes up big time tonight and carries us to another W.
Its gonna be tough, cause its a win or die pretty much for Dallas, who are happy to finally play at home. If we can keep the game close again, we'll have a good chance, but if Dallas takes a 10-12 point lead in the first half I see very slim chance for us to turn the game around.

Let's quite down that crown early! Go Thunder!

Btw, the winners so far of the Player of the Game award are:

1 - Ibaka
1 - Westbrook

Let's put another name on that list! Hint: KD

The only way KD has a breakout game is if Marion slides over and defends Westbrook.

Last year, KD shot 50% in the regular season and Marion forced him to shoot 45% in the DAL-OKC series. Marion is the perfect defender for KD.

Wrong. KD shot 46.2% in the regular season last year and 42.9% against Dallas in the playoffs.
Yes, Dallas/Marion defends KD well, but it's not THAT big of a difference in shooting percentage.
KD should be able to have a good game and it's not like he was shut down in the first two games either. He really had some good looks that he missed, that had nothing to do with who was defending him.
Watch out, he's gonna have a good game tonight.

Durant has been getting his points at the line especially last game when he didn't shoot that much compared to game 1. I'm not worried, he is still effecient as he is getting to the line. Despite shooting 34% from the floor he has a TS% of 0.479. It is not by any means great (Westbrook is .594) but it is still one of the top in the playoffs. Futher more, if Durant can bring his fg% up with the same production as game 1 and 2 his ts% will be 0.54%. Still not great, but he also has only made 1 1/2 threes this series in each of the 2 games. If he can hit some more threes and can bring his FG% up to 45%, he will be in good shape. That being said, I'm sure he will have a few big shooting games at 50% and atleast 4 threes.

Last playoffs his TS% was: 0.58%
Last year TS% against Mavs: 0.55%
This year: 0.48%
This year at 42.9fg%: 0.54

I know it's only been 2 games but I don't think Durant could play much worse on the floor, and his efficeincy isn't THAT bad atm. He's just in a bit of a slump but he'll shake it.

As a whole Durant shot 49.6% in the regular season and only 42.9% against the Mavs. That's a huge dropoff. Durant shot 45.8% in the playoffs before dropping to 42.9% against Marion.

There you go Kevin, there you go!

One of the better halves this season by the Thunder, especially defensively.
Ibaka and Perkins really locking down the paint.
Need a strong 3rd quarter now.

I hope Cook can knock down one or two 3's in the second half, his shot is off again so far against the Mavs.

OKC taking care of business. One quote that always sticks with me is great playoff teams always sweep their opponents. I believe that is true with most dominant teams (like Miami in the East right now), but the west is very tough. If OKC can get a sweep or 2 it could build some great momentum.

Royce Young posted this on twitter yesterday:

Pretty interesting to watch this postgame video now after the Thunder dropped to 2-21
http://feeds.newsok.tv/services/player/ ... 4497279001

The video is from 2008-2009 season, after a game that was the Thunder's 21st loss in their 23rd game that season.
Watch what Scott Brooks says at the end of the video.

I think it's just AWESOME!!
