Re: Backup PG
Maynor is better now.
Jackson has more upside, while from Maynor you know what you get.
Probably it would make sense to trade Maynor next summer though. I really like him and would be very sad anyways.

Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

Re: Backup PG
Maynor should take it for now but I think Jackson has a good shot at ending up the better overall player.

Re: Backup PG
With the development of Westbrook and Harden, I don't think this is a very important position on the team any longer. The Thunder made it through a condensed schedule to the finals last year with a rookie Jackson and Fisher.
I've never thought Maynor was very special with the Thunder, but the team has the luxury of evaluating Maynor's presence over the first 30 games and then they can make a decision of whether to keep Maynor in the rotation for the remainder of the season or to trade him for a future asset.
In a potential small ball lineup where Brooks wants another ball handler on the floor ie, Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Ibaka and X, I'd prefer Jackson to be X than Maynor. Jackson is stronger and longer and a better finisher at the rim. I don't really want the ball in Maynor's hands under these conditions and I'm not sure what value he brings if it isn't.

Re: Backup PG
I take Maynor for this year. If they keep Harden, Maynor will definitely be gone then I'll be fine with Jackson beyond that. Maynor showed a lot fo good chemistry with PJ3 in the preseason and will give the Thunder another option on offense with the second unit, maybe take some pressure off Harden especially if he's ever struggling (which it looks like he might be to start the seasoon). Jackson can fill up the stat sheet nicely in his own way but his turnovers are high and he's not a true point like Maynor. It will be nice to see the Thunder having a true point guard out there in Maynor after basically not having one at all last season, might make a huge difference.
Also, if they don't get a deal done with Harden and there is real doubt he may be gone next summer, keeping Maynor will be really important I think especially if he has a big year.

Re: Backup PG
Maynor is a really solid backup pg but we won't be able to keep him after this season and we made it to the finals without him last season. Best interest in the team is to trade him and get any value we can.
