what does he do to make okc fans hate him so much?

because i don't think it can be the offense because durant, westbrook, martin, and ibaka use up all the ball possessions.

Because he's terrible.

Actually when he's involved more in the offense, he is a negative value. He turned the ball over 28% of the ball possessions he was included last season, and now he turns the ball over 20% of ball possessions he's involved. Also he doesnt have any clue about where he has to be on the offensive end.

His only value offensively is as an off the ball screener.

Defensively, he's good defending isolations, and post ups(excellent there). Outside these two aspects, he's already shown weaknessess.

He's been bad for the Thunder, but he's kinda key player when playing low post threats. I'd say his low post defense was valuable for the Thunder, for example, last season against Bynum and Duncan, but I'd rather have a better rounded player instead of Perkins.

But Perkins is doing his job on the defensive end (boxing out, screens etc) and they are winning many games.


I can understand him getting lazy here and there because in the end the thunder will most likely pull out with the win

Thunder is just the 22th best defensive rebounding team.

I'd say there are a lot of centers in this league who would contribute better than Perkins has done until now.

Rebounding and turnover. Things that he can and should fixed.

we're not exactly good in either that he can get away with not grabbing more defensive rebounds or taking better care of the balls on the few times he gets it.

On offence his role should be to set screen, wait for open jumpers which he can make or try to get the rebound.
We should stop letting him try to post up.

from the games I've watched Durant is gobbling up those defensive rebounds to increase his stats

I dont think it is how you should look it,

I don't care how many rebounds Perkins get. I care how much rebounds Thunder get. Thunder has not being a good defensive rebounding team according to basketball reference just the 22th. When Durant was more active on the board early this season, Thunder was in a better position.

if we were better on the defensive rebounding board, then the amount that Perkins grab is irrelevant. As we're not, then it's up to him and the rest of the team to grab those rebounds. Since he's a center, he has more responsibility together with Ibaka.

Perkins is so frustrating to watch that it's almost difficult to come up with a concise answer to this. Easier to concentrate on the few positives and assume that everything else is a glaring negative.

Generally, if his head is in the right place, he plays solid low post D. He also gives our team some difficult to measure "strength" or "fight".

forces KD to be more complete? i.e. rebounding duties and gives Westbrook/Durant/Ibaka/Martin more shot since he doesnt really take much?

I thought you guys might like this. This is some highlights before he injured his knee and then was traded here. It's clear Presti thought we'd be getting more value out of him as I"m pretty sure he can't do any of the moves in that video.
