I'd love to hear some input from the posters on this board about Jeff Green
Now I heavily dislike him as a player, and think he's barely average. He doesn't seem to be good at anything, except maybe being athletic. I do know he wasn't the best player here.

What do you guys honestly think about Jeff Green?

Poor. Low energy, low skill guy. The only thing that he's useful is at PF on transition. He sucks at everything besides that.

I'm giving my opinion out of respect to bertrob as a poster on this site, but recognize that he may not like or agree with my response.

Jeff Green is the same player in Boston that he was with OKC. Whether that is good or bad seems to depend upon your expectations.

If you were one of the Boston fans that expected Green to become more than what he was because he would no longer be forced to play so much power forward, then you're likely disappointed, but you were also had misplaced expectations.

What Presti liked and likes about Jeff Green is he is a blender. Green can blend his game alongside heavy usage players, he can step up his own usage when required and Green will sacrifice his own game to compliment the games of others. It isn't that Green isn't good at anything, the truth is he is good at many parts of the game, he just isn't great at any one skill. Green is also a good locker room and community guy. Presti drafted Perry Jones in 2012 because he is also a blender both in terms of skill set and mentality.

It's not Green's fault that Ainge let David Falk talk him into Green's current contract. And it's not Green's fault that Paul Pierce has not been as consistent or effective as in years past. Green was brought in to add versatility and athleticism to the Boston line up, not take over for Allen or Pierce as one of the big 4.

sonictecture did a thorough job but I'd also add that Green hasn't added much in the way of new skills since entering the league...

Green improved his jump shot and expanded his range from his rookie season. Green was a good passer in the Princeton offense at Georgetown, but alas his passing hasn't transferred outside that offensive system.

He isn't good at anything

I actually thought he was pretty good at playing D against guys his size or smaller. Unfortunately he played a lot of PF at OKC and always got torched.

His recruitment to Georgetown University, NBA draft position by the renowned Sam Presti, and current multi-million dollar contract would argue otherwise.

Thanks for the post. I think your point about Green as a "blender" is very very interesting, and it gives me some new perspective. I think you also make a great point about how Ainge brought Green in to do one thing and the fans expected otherwise.

But for what Green brings to the basketball court don't you think its underwhelming? I'm interested to see what you would write on his skill-set

I think around his RFA time, as fans we really didn't want to be paying what he's getting now.

edit: take note that he's being earmarked to replace Pierce at SF. The same pierce that is a future HOF and the same one that still perform at a top level even at his current age.
