ATL Fan: Josh Smith

Hawks fan, with an offbeat idea (no rumors, just an idea).

What would you think about a Josh Smith SnT this offseason for Perkins and your Toronto pick? Honestly, I think a Josh on a long-term deal might command a little bit more, but as a baseline, Perkins and whoever you pick with the Toronto pick?

Obviously, that would mean rolling out a Durant/Smith/Ibaka frontcourt, but I think it could work (especially longterm). That's ridiculously athletic with a ton of shotblocking. Josh can't shoot, but Ibaka and Durant can. On the flip side, Smoove is a top 5 defensive player who rebounds well and is a fantastic passer. His offensive inefficiency would be hidden when he's the 3rd/4th option as opposed to the 1st/2nd. Plus, he's not Perkins. He can guard Lebron or Bosh. You guys would have trouble against Howard, but otherwise would run circles around everyone else.

Josh has said he'd like to win, and if he's not willing to resign here he might like to be an integral cog of a championship caliber team.

The reason why OKC pretty much screwed themselves out of the title hunt this year (I mean that in the most respectful way possible), is because the owners didn't want Harden walking away for nothing. I believe OKC is just under the salary tax cap, so Josh Smith wouldn't want to stay here cause I believe he wants a max or close to a max which OKC cannot afford to give.
