Come on Presti you're smarter than this. Fisher

Post#1 » by wiff » Tue Feb 26, 2013 4:30 pm

The Oklahoma City Thunder has signed guard Derek Fisher for the remainder of the season.

“We are excited to welcome Derek back to the Thunder organization," Sam Presti said in a statement. "He contributed to our team in various ways last season, and we are looking forward to him joining us again.”

Really, you didn't watch the finals Sam? You didn't watch how Brooks gave Fisher entirely too many minutes? You didn't see Fisher getting abused and ultimately being one of the biggest reasons why the Thunder lost in the finals?

I hope this is a mentor role because if he see's the floor in time that counts, it's over. Give up on a chance for a ring today. Brooks uses this guy way too much and this guys tires are so bald there are only rims left.

He shouldn't even need a number this year

I can't wait till he screws up games again by causing couple of four-point swings when he thinks he can drive to the hole and then gets swatted or stripped. That was what I saw the few games he had in the finals last year. Good luck with that fraud. Hope your coach learned a lesson.

18 straight missed shots. How long can he do this?

As long as Brooks keeps thinking he has a "winner" on the floor.

Is there anyway of finding out the longest streak of consecutive missed shots?

I was at the OKC/Bucks game Sat.

22 min for Fisher? WTF?? He was dreadful too. I mean JJ Redick was picking on him. Its one thing to bring in a grizzled vet to lead the youngsters. Its another thing to leave him on the floor despite clear evidence he shouldn't be there. This is going to be problematic if it continues.

Is it Presti, or Brooks?

Presti didn't matchup Perkins with Bosh and move Ibaka out on the 3pt line to guard Battier in the Finals.

Is Presti playing Fish 13mpg+, or is that Brooks?

Is Presti allowing 43%fg Westbrook to shoot more than 50/40/90 Durant, or is that Scotty?

Presti did trade Harden for a DLeaguer and a pick that'll be protected till 2015, though.

Full (Please Use More Appropriate Word) on both accounts.

Presti made some bad decisions based on the argument "we're winning right now, you don't restructure a Finalist, status quo". The worst of them was to resign Scott Brooks to a 4-year deal. Presti might have closed Thunder's Championship Window for the next 4 years, but we're a perennial contender. Brooks is a poor defensive coach, doesn't give any offensive structure outside of individual plays, is very bad at handling rotations, is poor at taking productivity out of rookies and is nothing more than a motivator.

There's a side effect on this. If Thunder doesn't win in the next 4 seasons, things might get ugly when the Thunder try to resign Durant. Loyalty vs glory is a dilemma that Durant might go through if the Thunder can't win. The status quo policy might lose our franchise player in the next years.

If fisher gets these minutes hes getting now in the playoffs it is a complete travesty. They should be playing four guards-Westbrook, Thabo, Jackson, and Martin. Fisher does nothing better than any of them. Jackson is WAY more effective than him. He should be a desperation play only

Fisher has played very little point guard this year, but he did play point guard last season when he took over for the rookie Jackson. Fisher can get the ball up the court under pressure and can make the initial pass. He won't be doing a lot of drive and kick, but he knows the offense and can help the team.

Fisher can't contain penetration from the many speedsters, but the team can play some zone and funnel that penetration into Ibaka and Perkins. Aside from penetration Fisher's defense has been good and his strength is an asset both defensively and as a screener for on offense.

We all want to hate Fisher, but he hasn't taken minutes away from Jackson, probably helped keep Sefolosha fresh, and is a good guy to have around. Presti made another wise decision in signing Fisher.

I'm still unsure if it was completely wise though, every time I see Nate Rob play, I wish he were still on the team.

Presti should of never traded Ridnour for DMason and Joe Smith. What a maroon.

He's been much better than I figured and is still pretty bad....
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
