A project, but one with loads of untapped potential ... His game has made some noticeable strides over the past 6 months ... A high level athlete even by NBA standards with ridiculous size/length at 7' feet, with a 7'6 wingspan. His combination of length and fluidity/athleticism makes him an extremely intriguing prospect ... Quick reflexes ... He even shows some touch around the basket and a decent offensive feel. While not much of an outside threat, his midrange game shows some ability and potential to develop ... He's best at scoring on garbage baskets and can get out on the break and finish ... Seems to understand what he does well offensively and stays "within himself" ... Solid rebounder. Goes after the ball on both ends and although his positioning could improve, he's got natural rebounding abilities ... Quick feet. From Brazil, and his footwork is excellent, a "futball" upbringing has given him excellent foot dexterity. Able to slide his feet laterally better than the average 7-footer ... Solid hands. A 60% free throw shooter, which is not great but good for his age and position and should improve ... As the 2012-13 season has progressed, his defense has shown some improvement
sounds like a pro that Sam will get ... like Ibaka

He's a soft and with a questionable character version of Gobert.
I wouldn't take him at the first round. It's a reach imo even at Bobcats 2nd. No evidence at all that he can be better than Hasheem Thabeet coming from a Brazilian fan.

Isn't that what they said about Ibaka ...

Not really, Ibaka had range out to the 3 point line coming out, with good mechanics. According to draft express Lucas Nogueira measured at under 7 foot and with only a 20 inch max vertical. His athleticism isn't on Ibaka's level. At Cha 2nd he isn't a bad pick, but I don't think he has anywhere close to the potential Ibaka had coming out.

I tend to agree that physical profile is where Presti seems to start his analysis for a prospect. And we've seen this beyond just Ibaka. Westbrook, Harden, Jackson, PJ3 are all physical specimens as well.
I think you can look at Lucas Nogueira as fitting a physical profile Presti would be interested in, but I don't think the physical profile is where Presti stops his evaluation. How would Nogueira fit alongs side the core of the roster?
What kind of a player does he project to develop into within the length of his rookie contract? How much does Nogueira like playing basketball? Will he be willing to work really hard at getting better?
Nogueira seems a good draft and stash developmental player, similar to Tibor Pleiss who is also playing in Spain.

Can the Thunder just draft his hair? That would be awesome!

According to nbadraft.net he's 7'1 with a 7'6 wingspan added weight, and had a good showing at the addidas tourny this year. I checked draftexpress and it looks like they updated his measurables from when I first looked.
7 foot 7'8 wingspan 220 with a 28 inch no step vertical but a 28 inch max also. So kinda weird vertical numbers. Either way his added size definitely moves him up the draft boards. Puts him into legit center category instead of a tweener that doesn't have much offensive game.
