We need some shooters on this team

Just a few years back, 3 point shooting was able to keep you in games, and bring you back into games if you were down. Nowadays, it seems like 3 point shooting wins you championships. Just look at the Miami Heat. We have two great drive and kick players in westbrook and Durant, who can suck the D and kick it out. The problem though? Lack of shooters. Sefolosha is alright, but nothing great...he's pretty decent in the corners that's about it. I think this team needs a real good three point shooter, ala Korver, Danny Green, Novak, etc. Especially if we want to play small ball and match up against teams like the Heat and the Spurs, what the heck are we going to do? Still play Perkins? Just look at what Danny Green was able to do in the finals. He almost won them that series with 3 point shooting alone. Like Durant said, i think Belinelli would of been an excellent fit.

OKC was 3rd in the NBA in 3 point percentage last year. Even if you remove Martin, they would have been in the top half of the league, and Miami lost one of its best shooters as well. Although I see the benefit of another shooter, its really not an issue with the scoring the team has. An offensively competent big is a much larger concern imo.

i think 3 point shooting would only be an issue if we're getting out west and Miami is waiting. Right now i think our problem is how we are going to overcome the Perkins deficit.
I do think our bench and rookies would be servicable.

So Perkins should be working on his 3pt shot?
Presti has found success in the past by going the opposite direction of others. He predicted correctly there would be a run on 3pt shooters and instead went for defenders. I'd rather be able to defend Shane Battier and Mario Chalmers than have them on the team.
Three point shooting is something I'm very interested to observe this year.

Trade us Perkins and Lamb for Ben Gordon and you can have Jannero Pargo as well for more shooting.
Or hell, just play Lamb and see what you've got!

He's probably banking that Westbrook and Durant can score enough in the meantime and it's much easier to get someone to be a decent 3 point shooter than getting someone to be a decent defenders.

I don't know if it's a question of the meantime. Certainly Presti seems willing to allow Lamb develop into a role and that role projects to involve shooting and spacing the floor as Martin did last year. Ibaka's game seems to be developing in this area and Durant will continue to be the primary shooter. The loss of Liggins will show up some here, because although he didn't shoot much, he was regarded as a reliable corner shooter by the coaching staff.
I know some want Jerrett on the roster this season because of his good shooting during summer league.

Lamb may have extended minutes for a while, Reggie may have more responsibilities in the meantime, so their performance will probably fluctuate. Having Durant/Westbrook will help ensure that most of those fluctuations won't cost us a loss i guess. I guess Lamb questions will come on the defensive end for now while Reggie with his 3 point shooting
If Jarrett come to camp and we doing sign him, do we still keep his rights? I haven't read that he signed elsewhere

This may have been talked about in another thread, I think the Thunder retain his rights and he will be in the d league. Trying to find a link..

I'm basing mine off this.
http://newsok.com/okc-thunder-latavious-williams-still-waiting-his-turn-with-thunder/article/3691920He can join the Thunder for
training camp in the fall and
compete for a roster spot. But the Thunder already has 15 players under contract, and Williams would have to beat out partially guaranteed forward Hollis Thompson for the final spot.
If he doesn't, the Thunder would
have to waive him and Oklahoma City would lose his rights, making Williams a free agent.
Obviously this is before you can send 3 camp invites to your D league team but the logic here is that to be on training camp they need to be under contract, so we signed his rights and once he's not needed anymore we waived away that rights/contract.

I'm not sure the differences in Lat Williams and Jerretts scenarios but here is a newsok article
http://newsok.com/okc-thunder-notebook-nba-likely-to-return-to-2-2-1-1-1-finals-format/article/3888134?custom_click=rssat the bottom of the article you will find this

GRANT JERRETT TO SIGN WITH THE TULSA 66ERS
When Thunder camp opened this weekend, there was one notable absentee.
Grant Jerrett, the 6-foot-11 second-rounder from Arizona who went to OKC on a draft night trade, wasn’t at Media Day and hasn’t attended the early practices.
That’s because Jerrett is expected to sign a deal and start the season with the Tulsa 66ers, allowing the Thunder to maintain his draft rights.
If he joined OKC in camp, and was subsequently cut – a likely scenario with a roster already stacked to the brim – the Thunder would no longer hold those rights.
So, it seems, there is a mutual understanding between the two parties. Jerrett, a 19-year-old sharpshooter with plenty of upside, is able to groom his craft for a nearby D-League team, allowing him to stay connected to the parent club.

A lil more from the second page of that article

The Thunder has done this with second-rounders in the past: DeVon Hardin in 2008, Robert Vaden in 2009 and Latavious Williams in 2010. But if Jerrett were to join the Thunder at some point in the future, he would need to sign a deal with the team before playing.
Vaden was the only of the aforementioned three to eventually join the Thunder.

Same thing, if he go to preseason with him, we got to sign him up first.
