Dallas Fan here ..

Would you be interested in

Dalembert + Boston 2nd Rd Pick + $ 3 Million cash to go towards next years Perkins Amnesty for Dallas Top 20 Protected Pick Right now that pick would be 21st and its possible Dallas could move up a couple of spots .

Dalembert gives you a better Center to play instead of Perkins . Dalembert is also fairly cheap $3.9 Million this year and $3.9 Million next year with only $1.8 Million guaranteed next year

Perkins 19.2 MPG 3.3 PPG 4.3 RPG 0.6 BPG .452 FG% .636 FT% 6.29 PER
Dalembert 20.6 MPG 6.1 PPG 6.3 RPG 1.2 BPG .560 FG% .746 FT% 15.87 PER

This way you can Amnesty Perkins and still have Adams / Dalembert at Center next year while having the money to re-sign Thabo and still be under the Tax .

Thanks for any feed back ... If not this what would it take to get that pick back ? Dallas could also throw in PG Gal Mekel .

Honestly, I'd say I'm one of the few who wouldn't completely be against this deal from what I've heard from others, but I still say no. Perk serves some purpose with OKC, be it only minor, and its defense. I still lean no, but would reconsider closer to the deadline possibly. Personally I'd rather only do a deal for a perimeter guy at this point, or for a center that would move the needle a bit more than Dalembert.

I'm pretty well on the same page... Seems like it could help a bit. I've never been horribly impressed with Dalembert, but Perk kills us in a lot of games.

Not a chance, Dallas isn't getting better so we either get a 21st pick in this loaded draft or a higher pick down the road, either way that's worth more than Dally. On top of that, aren't we only about 2.5 million under the tax?

It would put the Thunder in the Tax. No thanks.

PJ3 + DAL 14

for

Dalembert + DAL 15

Only if it is unprotected. But, PJ3 has looked good. No real interest in dealing him. Only players who would be moved are Thabo and Perk.

Why for Dallas? Unless they tank they aren't getting a solution in this draft, and if they tank they keep their pick.

I'm happy for us to keep the pick. I assume they would want it for trade flexibility? I think they are locked out of trading there first round pick till is is ours.

If they give us their '15 pick they still can't trade it.

but they can trade 14 16 17 which they can't at the moment? I see lots of trades with Dal getting back there pick, they must want it for some reason.

They can't trade '14 or '16 if we own their 2015.

why can't they? I thought if we swap the protected pick for a clean pick they get access to all there picks again?

I'm not American so I may be missing something somewhere.

The understanding I have is a team cannot trade picks in the first round for two consecutive years. So thunder own Dallas' '15 pick thus they cannot trade their '14 & '16 pick. I could be wrong because I have not read the pick trade clause in a while, but that is my understanding.

You're right about not being able to trade 2 straight first round picks, but OKC has Dallas's 14 pick currently but its top 20 protected until 2017. If its not given by then, its unprotected so there's a chance that Dallas is good enough til 2017 then Dirk retires and they stink and its a really good pick.

And even if it's conveyed this year, having the 21st pick is likely just as good as a late lotto pick down the road.

Would you feel the same if the Mavs were to move up to the 25th Pick ? I know its probably not happening but the 4th seed is just 4 games ahead of the Mavs . And with the Clippers without Paul and the fact the Houston is not the powerhouse that everyone thought they both could slip .

What about

Dalembert + Boston 2014 2nd rd Pick + $3 Million Cash for Sefolosha + Our Pick Back ?

Or back where the other poster suggested the Mavs 2014 Pick for a 2015 Pick Instead of a 2015 Pick how about the 2016 . This then solves the problem with trading consecutive picks so they can now trade 2014 + 2018 to other teams with the 2016 Unprotected going to OKC . You also gamble that the Mavs might now be that great in 2015/2016 with a 37 year old Dirk ..

Also what happened to Sefolosha is he not playing well this year ? Why are his Percentages down so much and does OKC Plan on re-signing next year ?

Dalembert has not much value for us if Perkins/Adams is still with the team.

edit: Solely about pick swap. Would it be beneficial to Dallas and OKC if instead of letting it be top 20 protected and unprotected after 2017 or 2018, they agree to a change of protection say top 25 protected in 2014, top 18 protected in 2015 top 15 protected in 2016 and so on.

No by having the protections Dallas cant trade future picks .. I would be fine with paying $3 Million and a 2nd rd pick just to unprotect the pick this year so Dallas could then trade their 2016 and 2018 Picks

by unprotecting you mean giving up the pick assuming it's 16-20 this year or giving up a completely unprotected 2015 pick? I don't think Dallas would do that, Considering cash is a max of 3m a season. probably give up 2 2nd instead.
