General Game Discussion

Post#1 » by DontH8TheBrody » Thu Jan 30, 2014 11:56 pm

We don't have a thread on this forum yet where we can just discuss the games..

First off, wanted to say, that is the most hyped I have been before a regular season game in a long time against Miami last night and I was fully satisfied. Thought Lebron and the Heat would be in full throttle mode trying to stop KD's streak as well as the thunder win streak. Thought they had a very good shot at winning but not stopping the scoring streak. Was quite frankly shocked at the turn around after the slow start.

With that big win and the way we have been playing maybe a big, big win streak could be ahead.. Keep winning and imagine how tough it will be to beat us once Russ is back.. Tough game tomorrow against Brooklyn though.

Helluva game tonight..

Was pissed to see KD's streak end from Brooklyn playing so badly though..

Looking forward to tomorrow in Washington.

Loved Perry Jones' aggressiveness in this game. He contested shots that got him some blocks, rebounded the ball, but the way he attacked Teletovic off the dribble was impressive. He can blow by any PF in the league and at the worst earn a trip to the FT line.

I'm looking for Brooks to run some high post ISO plays for Jones. He'll torch opposing backup PF's with his speed, explosiveness and athleticism.

I agree with you, Jones has looked awesome of late.

Hope when Russ is back, they play him instead of Fish for the most part. What do you think Jones future looks like here and what do you think his high end potential is?

Jones has near unlimited potential. His combination of size, athleticism and skills is rare. There aren't too many 6-11 players with 38" verticals that have 3 point range. He just has to be able to put it all together. We've seen his range and athleticism on display in pretty much every game he plays. The two things that impress me the most about him this season has been his defense and general effort. He is routinely the first one down the floor and is definitely open. If they'd just pass it to him instead of going for the highlight play, I think he could covert for some easy points.

As far as the type of player he could be, Josh Smith with better range?

What a gutty performance so far from Thunder. Luckily we finished the half in decent manners. Perkins has been awful, even for his standards.

After losing @Wizards two years in a row, a win would be really great!

Tough one tonight.. KD came back to earth.

Hate when he misses an early good look around the basket, seems like he always looses a tad bit of confidence in his outside shot after and starts worrying about his fg%. Reggie just kept making horrible circus shot attempts or running over Wall. We were due for a let down.

Hopefully regroup on Monday.

Great win tonight against Portland! That was an ugly game, we had all kinds of issues and honestly I felt like Portland just significantly outplayed us in a lot of ways. Reggie had an awful start but really turned it on. Durant really struggled to get in a rhythm (always crazy that you can say that when a guy has 36 points).

Ugly first half is putting it kindly!

Glad to see Jackson got back into his shot the second half though, and Lamb had a huge game. This was one of the times OKC really seemed to have some rough calls against them, but pulled it out. Ties the season series, 1 seed held onto, and Westbrook back in a week or so hopefully!

We just won on the road vs a tough team in a game where Durant didn't do anything amazing for his standards, where Ibaka (our 2nd best player atm) didn't play well, and where the refs were heavily favoring the other team.

We've been beating a lot of good teams since Westbrook went down for the 2nd time. And the experience guys like Reggie, Lamb, and PJ3 have been getting is invaluable. When Westbrook comes back, we're gonna have the best bench duo in the league in Reggie and Lamb. They will destroy opposing second units.

I am so excited to see Russ back.

Can't wait to see how the dynamic of the team looks, if KD stays in this attack mode, I hope Reggie gets back his primary scoring swagger on the bench, Ibaka can continue working PnR game with both Russ and KD, and I hope Russ is 100% healthy and can start getting the rust off.

Exciting times to be an OKC fan.

I think people forgot the team was 21-4 with Russ in the lineup, can't wait to see him back either.

Anybody knows when Eric Maynors trade exception expires? I heard it's going to expire in two weeks...

Woj says we are looking to add a shooter before the deadline!

Hoping to keep our same team, and maybe move a 2nd rounder or either ours or Dallas' pick depending on the player.

Wonder if we are looking for an impact player who will actually play minutes or more of a safety valve.

My guess is more of the Ronnie Brewer variety. Not that it is a worthless move... may as well pick up a guy that MIGHT benefit you in a specific situation.

It was mentioned in the trade thread too, but wouldn't mind a shot at Jimmer, he would fit under the tax and into the TE from Maynor. If Sacto didn't want much (a few seconds), I'd love that.

Scott Brooks said Kendrick Perkins is going to start vs Miami....

What's the definition of insanity again...?

I don't care if he starts as long as Brooks takes him out way way way quicker then last time.

Please lord let Russ be back tomorrow! So hyped!
