Sebastian Telfair signs w/ Thunder

Post#1 » by Balkman32 » Thu Jul 3, 2014 12:03 pm

Sebastian Telfair and Oklahoma City Thunder have reached an agreement, league sources informed CSNNW.com.

According to sources that requested to remain anonymous, the terms agreed to is for one-year at the veteran’s minimum after meeting with team officials and touring the city recently.

Mr. or Ms. anonymous should work on breaking bigger news.

He will fight for the backup point.

Allows Semaj to go the d-league route, I like telfair and if we aren't actually giving anything of value it's not a bad pickup. Would have preferred a better shooter though.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Seems like a typical reclamation project. But I don't mind him as 3rd point guard

As others have said, no big deal.

Non-guaranteed, as mentioned, and he won't make it out of camp. He's just there to give Semaj some competition and Semaj will win the 3rd string PG job.

Would you like to make a bragging rights wager on this? I suspect Telfair will remain on the roster a la Ryan Gomes. Maybe to be included in a trade later in the year as a non-guaranteed salary. Sam Presti always has a third string PG and it's never a rook.

Was 2011-2012 that long ago?

Starter- Russ
Backup- Maynor
3rd- Reggie

Fisher was added after the trade deadline that year, because Maynor blew out his knee. How come our PGs tear up their knees against Houston? I actually thought Maynor was going to be a really good player, but he's never been the same since his knee blew.

Reggie was on the active roster every game. Ivey was not. Ivey didn't get on the active roster consistently until after Maynor went down. Ivey was on the active roster in 4 of the first 9 games and did not get to play a single minute even as the only DNP in one blowout. Reggie only played in three of those games, but was active for all. Reggie then played in every game after Maynor was injured until Fisher was signed.

Presti likes to have two experienced PGs. He has that in Russ and Reggie. That will allow him to carry a rookie as the 3rd string. Last time Presti had two experienced PGs and an opening for the 3rd PG he went with Reggie. I just think Semaj is the better player and will win the spot over Telfair. I don't think rookie has anything to do with it and the best player will win the spot between the two of them. Roster spots could also play a factor if they land Gasol and a shooter in FA.
