Kendrick Perkins? The Center position

Hey, I was wondering what Thunder fans think of Kendrick perkins? do you guys want him gone? do you think he'll be traded mid-season (doesn't look like he'll be traded before the season starts). He's an expiring and I think he can bring some value, I think you guys could have easily aqquired Spencer Hawes by trading Perks but yeah I just wanted to know what your opinion was on Perks and who you guys would like to see replace him (I think Steven Adams is nice off the bench)

A low post threat could really help ease the pressure off Russ and KD (Pau Gasol could have been it), is there anyway you guys can acquire Greg Monroe? or how about a someone like Andray Blatche? Your thoughts?

In general, I'm kind of meh on it. He's not good, no doubt, but at this point he's only got 1 year left on his contract, only plays about 20 minutes per game, and Adams is playing really well coming into his second season. Pau would have been fantastic, but at this point I think they just ride out the last year of his contract. It's not worth trading him just for the sake of trading him, as they likely would have to give up Lamb/PJ/Reggie in a trade, and I don't think anyone is on the trade market who's enough of an upgrade to be worth giving up one of those 3 guys for someone to play 20 minutes a night.

Expiring a only have value in two ways, as salary filler or in taking on a long term bad deal. Unless Minny decides to completely blow it up and Pekovic is available, I don't see any deals that would help OKC.

I would not touch Andray Blatche with a 10 foot pole.

At this point I expect them to ride Perkins out this year. Next year Pleiss comes over from Europe to become a backup big along with McGary with Ibaka and Adams the starters. Perkins might end up getting re-signed if he'll sign a vet minimum deal as more of a coach then a player. Perkins still has limited value against traditional centers. Teams like the Clippers and Grizzles where he can play against a legitimate bang in the paint big man. Against teams who play smaller lineups he isn't effective.

I expect Perkins to be the starter this year, but only playing 12-15 minutes a night. I really can't believe how fast he declined, but he's just never been the same since he tore his MCL and PCL. It's hard to believe he isn't even 30 yet. He's still a smart player and has been a good locker room guy for the younger players a mentor. So I don't think they get rid of him and disrupt things during the season.

People mostly can't stand Perk. If I had a nickel for every time he's bobbled a pass or gotten blocked at the rim... Well, I'd at least have enough for a night out on the town.

We cannot amnesty or trade perkins.
Perkins is KDs guy. When we resign KD, ditch the dude. Until then, he is needs to stay.

OKC will never win a ring with Perkins(starting) used in a bigger role
Pleiss might be able to help but not this season

The only way I see that happening is if Love is moved. I would LOVE Pek if he is healthy.

Rather he (starts) or not, Brooks is already limiting him to 15 mpg.

Perk is not completely useless as others have pointed out. He's a smart defensive players, a good mentor to young bigs, a positive locker room presence, and a useful defender against traditional bigs. However, his offensive woes are pretty overwhelming. If we can get anything of value for him then I'd be fine dealing him. If Perk wanted to re-sign for the vet minimum after this season then I wouldn't mind, but I don't see the point with Adams, Pleiss, and McGary.

The fact that it seems like we're keeping Thabeet indicates to me that we might be considering trading Perk at the deadline. Otherwise, why keep Thatbeet?

His value to this team is reflected more in intangibles such as providing leadership, being a mentor to the younger guys and being willing to stand up and back up our guys if they get into scuffles on the court.

I think every successful team needs a steady, veteran presence like Perk.
