I'm not sure the logic in buying a $1.25 trade exception when they could have just released him. There isn't much that fits into it. A minimum contract or a very late 1st round rookie contract in year one or two.

Neither do I, but heck, whatever they wanna do is none of my business. Freed up a roster spot though.

Thabeet had a team option so they could have just declined it to free up the spot. Unless there is something in the works that they needed that spot for now I just really do not understand the timing of it. Now you are down Perkins and Adams as NBA experienced centers with 1/2 credit for Collison and Ibaka who can play there for short bursts. I'm just wondering what is cooking that they needed to free up a roster spot now instead.

Could a Reggie trade be about to go down with three players coming back? The move in a vacuum just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It being move 1 of 2 could make a lot of sense this time next week though.

I agree, but at the same time, it could just mean they feel like McGary's far enough along to carry any needed 3rd string C minutes, and they have a spot for a late season pickup (man I just hope this doesn't turn to a Caron 2.0 situation). It puts them about 2.5 under the tax I think, so there's that.

Just a passing thought though, if there were something in the works, it could be for salary too. If my math is right, they could trade Reggie and Perk for Will Bynum and Monroe at about 11 per year and stay under.
