Does anyone else have difficulty determining if there are new posts on a thread ?

They mostly look the same on my computer. I have to look closer at the time and date of posts.

Yes. I just read the time stamps.

I think the color of the little image to the left of the thread title, that indicates new posts since previous visit, but it does not stand out well.
