He said Magic on Kimmel show, cool and expected for LA native, but this got me thinking.

Russell was like 7 or 8 when Magic retired, and was not the best player in the league for the last couple years of his career.

I don't even remember anything before age 6. I was 8 when Bird played for championship at Indiana State, and even though he is one of my favorites, I don't even remember anything from his Indiana State games. Were it not for cable and documentaries, it just wouldn't exist for me.

Magic was my favorite player while growing up. I was born in Kansas in 1990, to a family who has no interest in basketball, with only about 20 tv channels. Some guys are so good, and in Magic's case charismatic, that highlights and interviews are all you need.
