I'd really like to trade Enes for an expiring that has on court value. I think with Donovan here Horford may be more than just a pipe dream if we can clear the salary. It would still leave us one wing short of where we need to be, but a rotation of Horford/Serge/Adams would mean Mitch is completely expendable for a James Johnson or PJ Tucker type.

They can't clear that much salary with KD though, Horford is getting a max.

Horford will be 30 next summer, he is nearing the point in his career where winning a championship may becomes
more important than money. Especially if he can do it with Donovan. Also, if a team gives him 27 million dollars they're off their head.

Gonna need a huge pay cut.

And I think you will be surprised.

I may be, but I don't see a team thinking Horford is worth the max. I think his market is 20-21 million or so and we can offer 15. He'd obviously have to take a pay-cut, and if a team DOES offer him 27 per year then it doesn't happen, but 5-6 million in order to win a championship and play under Billy is feasible if not altogether likely. Also, Even if we missed out on him I'd happily spread that 15 million around to a good backup center and a good wing and be pleased.

So is Horford going to be our new Kanter?

No, Horford would start.
32+32+32 = 96
48+48 = 96

This is kinda why I would like Noah too, the Donovan connection. He'd be great off the bench too if he was cool w/ it.

If we somehow got horford and noah whilst getting rid of kanter. That would be really cool. Noah off the bench would be nice as well. Donovan connection so it may be plausible, well help a lot. They only have good things to say about him.

Maybe this game is an eye-opener in several ways:

a) We need to care about our performances and play with emoition and fire.

b) Our bench is straight up garbage. If we'd sit our starting 5, we'd lose every game.

Also, this was the first in a while KD looked engaged.

Mann that would be awesome if Horford and Noah would come here..

-Starters-

Pg• Westbrook
Sg• Roberson
Sf• Durant
Pf• Ibaka
C• Adams

-Bench-

Pg• Payne
Sg• Morrow
Sf• ?
Pf• Horford
C• Noah

Maybe Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Horford, Noah, Adams can take big paycuts in order to win multiple championships (fingers crossed)

I meant Noah instead of Horford. There's zero way you get both. The salary cap thing.

From the Suns' board:

getrichordie wrote:Hey, guys, Thunder fan here. Just popping into ask a few questions. Since Phoenix is having a fire sale, what kind of trade would you guys offer to get Payne & Kanter?

Also, I haven't been able to watch any Phoenix games except the one where you guys played those Thunder guys. How is Jon Leuer looking? Has he improved? How well can he guard 4s and 5s?

Edit: What about Augustin/McGary/Kanter? Singler/Kanter?

cosmofizzo wrote:Leuer does fine against 4s and 5s as long as they're not real big, low-post types. Tough, mobile, but not very strong.

I'd be curious what Jeff has to say about Kanter, since he was on the Utah staff when they drafted him and worked with him. I'm not gonna lie, I have some interest, despite the fact that he's the worst defender in the league on a contract that makes no freaking sense. :P

To answer your question - Tucker, Keef and the CLE pick is the baseline offer you're likely to get from us under these scenarios. If Payne's coming our way, we'd add Archie. If McGary's coming our way, we'd add Leuer. You could keep the PGs if we kept the CLE pick - so Keef, Tucker and two second rounders for Kanter, straight up. If you sent us Payne, we'd add Archie and the CLE pick. If you add McGary, we'd add Leuer and maybe the CLE pick. If you want Chandler - well, that's a different story. I don't think Len and Kanter work all that well without the vet influence of Chandler on this squad. But maybe. Can't imagine we're interested in Singler, given his terrible play and 5 year deal.

I actually think this is pretty interesting. Chandler, Keef, Tucker, CLE pick, Archie - these are the assets we may have available for a Kanter deal, depending on who's being added on OKC's end.

Hmmmm...

Interesting idea.

Looking forward to next season...

I'm going to suggest something kind of nuts. If Horford was willing to meet with the Thunder in FA (a big if), we could move Serge to a team like the Magic and add some cheaper pieces back. Open cap space for Al.

That's before Kanter getting moved, which I'm 99% certain is going to happen.

It's super farfetched, but there is a preexisting relationship with Donovan, and Russ/KD/Donovan would be a powerful draw. Also bringing in Horford would be a pretty fantastic incentive for KD to stay.

I've thought of it to actually and was hesitant to mention it. I don't know if I want to resign Serge, but I don't trade him for pieces either.

Interesting. Too hard to make that call now, but it all depends on the value we can get in return for Serge. If we can get 2-3 really nice rotation pieces on the right contracts and be able to sign Horford, I'd love it.

Celtics would likely give up Bradley, and they have plenty of pieces and picks to make a deal work.
