Jerami Grant

The 76ers have reportedly traded Jerami Grant to the Thunder in exchange for Ersan Ilyasova and a conditional future first-round pick.

The pick cant be until 2020 and I would assume it is heavily protected. Grant will make a little under a million this year and a little over a million next year with a club option. It is very interesting to see the Thunder trade one of their money assets Ilyasova making $8 million and their future first round pick.

This move is a little shocking, but the Thunder did get a chance to see him the other day. Maybe they can add his brother down the road.

24% from 3 last year. Another Thunder quality shooter.

He is not a 3 point shooter, they traded the 3 point shooter. Maybe the NBA is getting rid of the 3-Point shot...

They want to make the maze of people Westbrook already has to try to get around jumbled up in the paint on his way to the basket more interesting and fun when he does kick it out to "shooters".

We're just increasing the number of Available rebounds.

Is he a 3 or a 4? Or a tweener? More importantly, how is his defense? I don't mind the 3pt percentage as it could very well be skewed because of a very low sample size (he doesn't take a lot of them).

Defense is good, he's a tweeter 3/4, he can't shoot.

Sixers' fan here with my opinion of Grant.

Grant is a good defender, and on top of it he blocks shots. He probably leads all non-centers in blocked shots. He's very athletic, strong and durable. He'll be able to check most forwards.

On offense he's limited. He will try to drive to the basket, sometimes awkwardly, and dunk everything. He's trying to improve his shot and has put in a tremendous amount of work on it, but it still isn't there yet. Maybe his jump shot is starting to emerge. Too early to tell.

High character guy.

At this point if he's asked to do too much, he'll frustrate you. If he can be given a role and stay within it, he can be a good bench player. In the longer term he still has some upside so he can get better and to be honest his potential, if he ever gets a consistent jump shot, is pretty high as a very good 3-D guy.

Thanks man! Honestly don't have a high bar for him, he was acquired for next to nothing, but look forward to having him.

Possibly Ersan's last boxscore of 0/5 and 3/12 overall 3-pts did not help him.

Sixer fan here. Good luck With Jerami Grant. I think you guys will like him.

He plays hard, is an amazing athlete, and can defend and block shots. He is largely a non factor on offense, is a great kid, and great teammate.

He did too much for us because of our lack of talent, which exposes him a bit, but for 15 min or so on a good team, I think he will contribute a lot.

For IIyasova, I'm happy to just have someone that can shoot the three. We need that badly.

Good luck man, hoping to get to Philly for a game to see Embiid, he looks awesome and I live in Lancaster so not a far drive.

That's probably worse. At least some bad shooters can get there shot off and still have gravity and pull people out to the three point line.

Grant looked better than I expected in his Thunder debut. He played good defense and drew a couple of fouls. He seems to be on Robes level shooting wise though.

I wanted to make a few points here, regarding Grant and regarding my feelings about your team.

First of all, Grant has always been a work horse and a guy with endless energy. There were articles written by local sports writers talking about him being one of the first ones at practice and one of the last ones to leave.

I think that his physical profile is elite. His length and athleticism are imposing.

And while he does have a high work ethic, he is prone to the occasional brain fart. He is prone to giving way to his high energy tendencies and sometimes plays out of control. Although he was a higher usage player on Philly than is ideal for him, because of lack of other options. On OKC, I think that vulnerability will be minimized by having better options including a high usage point guard.

I also have to say on a completely unrelated note that the Thunder have become my 2nd favorite team. I have always loved Westbrook and Adams. Oladipo and Grant are also hard nosed, fast-paced players that I enjoy watching. There is the lack of outside shooting, sure, but that's not why I watch basketball. I think the Thunder are a fun team to root for.

I really hope that you guys get revenge on the Warriors when they come to OKC in February.

Best of luck guys.

That was the same thing Kanter said when he arrived from Utah. It's like finally getting out of Punxsutawney and being able to do things that you want to do instead of living the same day again and again.

"It wasn't just a one-game or two-game frustration," he said. "It was a 3½-year frustration. I'm happy for both sides. I think it worked out well for both sides. I'm definitely happy that I'm part of the Oklahoma City team, a winner team, so I think it's going to go really well in the future."

Any indication Grant is being groomed to take over for Roberson? I think certainly Grant has more potential offensively and excellent versatility on defense(although will likely never be the perimeter defender Roberson is). Is Roberson better cast as a perimeter defensive specialist off the bench long term?

The only indication is that no player here has gone to RFA ever (well, outside of Kanter, who was traded for after the extension deadline). Grant's definitely not as impactful of a defender as Roberson is. Roberson's a monster.

According to Zach Lowe we're looking for a "big wing" to slide into the SF spot to provide spacing, which would immediately solve several of our issues as Roberson moves to SG and Oladipo moves to the bench. Apparently Oladipo was supposed to be the 6th man, and presuming we can get a Rudy Gay type he still probably will be.

That would (assuming Payne is headed out) give us a starting lineup of Westbrook/Roberson/[offensive wing]/Sabonis/Adams with a bench of [point guard]/Oladipo/Grant/Lauvergne/[center].

My guess is that any trade would involve Kanter and Payne, possibly Abrines. Salary matching basically mandates that.
