The star Oklahoma City Thunder guard was left out in the loaded West, with sources telling ESPN's Chris Haynes that Golden State Warriors teammates Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, Houston Rockets guard James Harden, San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard and New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis got the nod as the conference's starting five.

Fans accounted for 50 percent of the vote to determine the starters. Current players and the media accounted for 25 percent each. Ballots consisted of two guards and three frontcourt players per conference.

It's a popularity contest. Who cares? We all know what kind of player he is. I just hope he uses it as motivation to play better.

Meh, he's not as popular as Curry. Big whoop. Wish he'd just rest.

Really hate that for Russ. He's having a historically great season, carrying a seriously flawed roster as a one-man band, to a well above .500 record in an extremely top heavy conference. He 100% deserved to be an All-Star starter this year.

I wanna see him refuse to pass to any warriors during the game. Or just keep drilling passes at their heads.

Meh. Fan voting. Is what it is; a popularity contest voted on by the hoards of gws 'supporting' children.

Now it'll just be interesting to see how Russ reacts.

A man averages a triple double and the fans can't seem to appreciate that enough

Popularity contest. Both media and players voted him #1 guard, over even Harden. Winning 2 of the 3 categories outright should trump even fan vote, but oh well.

I'm hoping he manufactures some fake injury to avoid going altogether. He carries so much weight for OKC, I feel like the ASG would be a little bit stressful and awkward with KD and the Warriors orgy it will be. He seems like a loner-type anyways who would rather spend the time with his family.

Hard to dislike Curry. But I'm up to the challenge.

It's not hard. It's easy. One of the biggest douchebags this league has to offer.

"...those two guys are doing amazing things this year..."

Everyone loves a good rivalry but let's not forget that Curry respects his coworkers.

I'll be honest, I can't stand Curry and think he's cocky in general, but nothing wrong was said here

No excuse for Westbrook not to start. Biggest snub in the history of snubs as KG said it; will be interesting to see how he interacts with KD and the rest of the Warriors. I hope he just says he will give his slot to someone else so he can focus on the team. The team is playing very well after losing KD. 28-20 and a slot in the playoffs. Really looking forward to see what other moves Presti will come up with to push this team back up again in contender status.

I'm pretty sure 90% of my hate for him comes from that stupid ass dance he was doing last year. Other than that he seems fairly likable, though I hate when guys come into the league humble then start changing (see cake, cup).

Part of it is the team he's on, but the mouth guard and dancing kills me. Plus all the media sucking up.
