I don't buy the argument that he's hurt. If that's the case, he needs to not be playing because he is hurting the team. I watch Enes Kanter and acknowledge that he is a sieve on defense. Right now Adams is too and offers no offense and rebounding. It's time to put Kanter in the starting lineup. Kanter is a scoring and rebounding machine and at least hustles. Adams isn't running the court and even getting under the basket on offense. Maybe he's not happy giving up rebounds to Russ. I don't know what the reason is for his poor play but it's hurting this team.

He's too busy making videos with Kanter.

Agreed....do you think he's just happy with his $? Did he always suck this much and it was just covered by kd? I'm curious what others think bc it's definately something. Looks like a guy who's injured to me, I agree he should sit a few and get healthy, even if it costs them the 6 seed if that'd the case (a tendinitis, foot soreness type of thing). Yea both are bad defensively right now, guys go right by adams might as well go with the guy who is one of the best interior scorers in the league.

He's not injured unless he's suffered a severe head injury. He's all over the place, but never where he needs to be.

Donovan may pop a blue screen of death and die if you remove Adams from lineup and ask him to make a new starting five.

That would be superb. Let's try it.

Of course he would also probably start semaj too.

I'm not going to say he hasn't been horrible, but it's pretty strange how distinct the pre/post ASB versions of Adams are. It's hard with him because he's never really been a stats guy, but it feels like he was going along relatively well before the break- some inconsistencies but he was still at least playing some good D- and he's come out of it playing like absolute trash.
I just want to believe there's something up. Maybe not injury. Maybe it's just there's nobody on the coaching staff capable of firing him up and breaking him out of his major slump.
Or worst case is that he got his cash and is now phoning it in. But he just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to do that.

I'm seeing a lack of effort to even get down court on offense. I dont know if he's hurt, out of shape or doesn't care.

I'm one of Steven's biggest fans, but he's been bad. Awful. Just looked and it goes back to nearly New Year's that his D rating is sub-Kanter on court. Since 2/1 he's nearly worst on the team. I get he plays with some poor defenders at times but that's not all of it, and I don't know what's going on.

Since the ASB, this team's best DRtG is with Adams OFF the court. That's all you need to know.

-4.0 On/Off DRtG over the last 15 games. Before the ASB, the defense was 6.1 pp100p better with Adams on the floor.

Is he saving energy before playoffs ?
I mean Adams was playing like a possesed man last year in most of the games in playoffs, like literaly some type of energy got into his body.
He isnt a 1% of Adams I remember he was, switching on GOAT Curry and defending him on perimeter, etc ...

Twenty three year olds don't need to save energy for months so they can be ready for a first round exit. If he's hurt, this organization is doing a disservice to him by playing him and not informing the public why he's so horrible. Personally, I don't see evidence of an injury. Two years ago after the season was over, serge told everyone he had been dealing with an injury. Although he wasn't really any better the next season. I can't believe that it's gotten to the point where we are better off with Kanter.
There are so many things I'm at a loss for with this team. Semaj getting more triple the minutes of McDermott and as many many minutes as Taj, (who by the way played well, although Donovan doesn't notice or care) infuriates me. I'm all for situational matchups but there is no situation for extended minutes for Semaj unless Russell is off the court. They should never be on the court at the same time. Keep in mind that Semaj instantly lost his job for a guy that was playing China because no one in the NBA wants him. Now all of a sudden he's part of our rotation? He needs to be out there with Westbrook? These are moves of desperation.

Don't tell me this is because of injury.

Of course he isn't the only guy out there sucking defensively, but it's his job to make up for that. If he can't anchor our defense, he's vastly overpaid.

I don't think he's injured, because we'd probably know.
It's just becomes absolutely mystifying, then, as to what the cause actually is. I don't think the answer is "he's just that bad". It'd be awfully strange for him to be a constant presence on D all this time, have the all star break, then become a complete dud and have that be the rest of his career. He's slumped before, but usually that just means he doesn't score for a week. Nothing ever like this.
Something has to have happened. I want to believe it because I love the guy, but I also do actually think something's happened. I doubt this is representative of what he'll become as a player. Just no idea what the hell could have happened with him, and why it hasn't been rectified.

Of course this is not who he is. That's not even up for debate. It's just concerning that this is like two straight months of deteriorating play by him.

I've heard more than one person throw out the idea that the team chemistry isn't great. We have to be honest and admit that it may not be ideal for some of the guys to play alongside Russ. Maybe Adams is frustrated with our lack of ball movement and how he's being used. At least every game we try to get him involved early and then it fades. If it's not injury or ability, what's the other option?

Could be. That's pretty much the same treatment that pissed Ibaka off and caused him to fade out of games defensively.

Well we kinda went from him away offensively as the season went on. For the first couple of weeks, we actually tried to run some of the offense through him in the high post, but we went away from that because Donovan thinks we can out-post other teams.
