Just 4 yrs/$84mill left of Oladipo. We're almost there...

Guy shot 9-42 on the road in this series. Worth every penny. Maybe Russ should've passed to him more

Trade Dipo and Adams for assets. If those assets plus the few OKC has, i.e. Abrines, are enough to get a 2nd superstar, i.e. Jimmy Butler, you do it. If not then you trade Russ and rebuild. I find it very hard to believe Russ will stick around knowing that the team will be losing talent over the next few off-seasons due to the cap situation. A core of Russ, Dipo and Adams is not going to get OKC out of the first round of the playoffs.

In all likely hood I don't think there's much of a chance we retain Taj. He's worth more than what we can pay him and I doubt our ownership wants to delve deep into the tax to retain both him and Roberson to continue our complete lack of spacing. It's also just not Presti's style to overpay on the back end of a contract and if Taj gets around 4/60 then I don't see him giving that value back at age 35. I say pay Roberson, let Taj walk and see what Domas looks like his sophomore year. If he's still not the answer then you can always make another deal on the deadline. Only make a deal for Dipo or Adams if it's there. Otherwise I say we develop internally and let those contracts start to look better with their improvement. Priority #1 should be to seek out an actual backup PG that can create/defend because this hypothetical player is going to need to play with and without Russ on the floor. Would also be fine if that player isn't necessarily a PG but just a bucket getting guard/wing. Maybe a Will Barton type.

If possible I'd be fine with literally dumping every non rookie contract and having a go at free agency. Moving dipo and Adams for draft picks shouldn't be difficult, and I think there are teams that would take enes for free. If you could move everyone except Russ, Abrines, Domas, Grant, and Singler (and robes cap hold) that would be ~50 million in cap space. Make a run at Hayward and blake, strike out on them and then try to settle for guys like ilyasova, hardaway Jr, mirotic, Redick, ingles, bogdonavic, len, thabo, mills, tyreke, pj tucker, pat pat, jodie meeks, shelvin Mack, jamychal green, omri casspi. We aren't bringing in good players, so just give Russ a bunch of shooters and draft picks and give it a go before he leaves.

TBH I'm just along for the ride. This is Presti's shot. He screws this up, it's over.

It ended last off-season. I never would have thought that the correct answer was that Presti should have kept Harden over kd.

I tried that in NBA 2K17 and failed miserably. I also think that's something Presti would never do because it comes with uncertainty.

It might be over for us as well. It's not ouf of the question that we don't make the Playoffs again in this decade if we don't improve our roster.

I'm still hung up on how crappy Victor was this series. I need some time away from it. Right now I'd trade everyone other than Russ.

If we moved up in the draft enough to get a guy like Malik Monk, I think he could provide as much of as immediate impact as victor. So we save money, might not be any worse, and have some talent if Russ says he's had enough.

Does any of this matter with Donovan as our coach?

What kind of assets could we get for those two?

I think we'd be hard pressed to trade up that high. Isn't he generally mocked like top 5 or 6?

Probably. Just another potential path that leads to a closed door.

Am I the only one a bit relieved that this season is over with now? If you told me before the year we'd win 47, get the 6 seed, lose in the first round, and Russ would get MVP, I'd feel pretty good about that being our first year post-KD.

And yet it's tough to feel optimistic about our options going forward. Don't see any way the team looks like this next year, whether it's Russ or the supporting cast changing, but Presti is going to have to get creative if Russ commits to this team with the DPE.

That being said at least we have our draft pick this year, so that will help occupy us for a couple months until Russ gets to give an incredibly awkward MVP speech at that awards ceremony.

I feel similar. The results are fine. How we got there is not encouraging. We need to make about 4-5 deals that are as good or better than the Orlando trade. Of course even that sounds kind of bad now. Maybe we should have kept Ibaka. Grant is the only player from that trade I have any positive feelings about. The main reason for that isn't because he's great but because he's cheap.

I think those were the expectations of most people going into the season. The problem is that there is almost no way to improve from here. They are capped out without assets to trade for win now help. So they either try to keep as much of the team together as they can and hope Russ plays 80 games and no one else misses significant time or they rebuild.

Yeah, been saying I'm kinda relieved too. Everything was just supposed to be some referendum on the MVP and whatever. It's over. Russ won, the team around him needs work. It gets interesting now.

I agree for the most part about the expectations, but was more referring to the 47 wins being a bit of a mirage. In actuality we were a .500 team if Russ has an average season shooting in the clutch, and that's what makes me think we could have a Portland type regression next year.
