Race for "The Lottery 2018", give us our 1st back!

Post#1 » by oken » Fri Nov 10, 2017 7:49 am

UPDATE 30-NOV: We're currently ranked 9th, pushed the Magic way down to 11th! Top 5 is so hard to crack but as seen for Cavs in this random simulation there is always a chance to jump up 5 places. Never lose faith!

After years of no picks, stoners and draft busts (sorry Payne fans but it is what it is) we have the chance to be a lottery team this year.

Our 2018 1st round draft pick which was traded to Jazz in Kanter trade and to Minny from them is lotto protected till 2020 and converts to two 2nd rounders after that. Currently we are 14th in rankings and can keep our own draft pick!

Here I want to check the draft prospects and start the race for The Lottery!

Let's hear about your ideas for the best prospects. There are 2 good SF prospects up top but can we be worse than Sacramento Kings? Like by scoring only 86 against them? Naaahh.. So please be more realistic and tell about your own ideas.

I'd call it an overreaction but honestly don't see it getting better. PG is gone anyway so sure.

Bondom has joined the trade PG for the brooklyn pick faction.

Count me in that group as well.

I don’t know anything about the prospects other than porter and Bagley but I would say a pg needs to be a priority. A high BBIQ, pass first guy is my ideal player.

I don't think you can get the Brooklyn pick for PG. I'd really like something like Shumpert, Frye, Zizic and the Brooklyn pick for PG, but I don't think Cleveland does it.

Gotta hope someone like Vlade gets stupid and wants to win now. I’ve been a big believer in Fox.

UPDATE: Cavaliers dropped to 14th with their last second win against Knicks and we moved to 13th in their place. Our new prospect is Kevin Knox. Here are some clips:

Man, Dzanan Musa's stock has really dropped off. He was once considered an equal rival of Luka Doncic.

Interesting the Pacers get Oladipo ( 23.4 ppg) and Sabonis (13.3 ppg , 9.8 rpg) and could still get the #9 pick to continue a rebuild.

There isnt nothing really delusional about the post. We don’t have a winning record.

It’s November. Pretty sure this team will have no problem getting into the playoffs.

While this thread alone is ridiculous, this post in it is the most outrageous. So if they have a nightmare season (they are making the playoffs guys.....really!), you want them to waste a lotto pick on a pass first pg back up Westbrook 10 min a night, when backup pgs are always available (see Felton, Ray). The point guard is Westbrook, he's really good despite your comical over reaction to his first 10 games to an 82 game season. Maybe Roberson could just handle more with his improved handle and slashing ability while we're at it.

No one said anything about Roberson so quit being a troll.

Did I say BACKUP pg? No I didn’t. I’m talking about a starting point guard. If we lose George we might as well move Russ and rebuild. We will have no cap space for an additional year if Melo opts in. Russ will be on the wrong side of thirty and not have any help close to the level of George or Oladipo. I’m all for enjoying the ride this year but it’s far from outrageous to acknowledge that we have major issues moving forward if we lose George.

if the thunder become a lottery team this year for any reason they should trade westbrook. he's going to be 30 in 2018-19 and it'd be the best thing for all parties involved. sam just went all-in sacrificing great young talent (oladipo, sabonis) that was locked up long-term for a one year rental of paul george, and opening up the possibility that a mummified carmelo might forced his way on the roster at $28mm next year.

if after all that he chooses to break it down mid-season and we end up with another low lottery pick to show for it? blow it up. it would be time.

Sabonis was an asset and obviously Oladipo was better than when he played here.

People on this board were calling it a salary dump of a bad contract.

I think both Adams and Oadipo would have received less if Presti had waited until the summer to re-sign them. Regardless of their contract, Adams, Oladipo and Sabonis are all good players.

If we lose George then that leaves us with only one of the four players left on our team- Adams. Maybe Presti can pull another miracle out of his hat but the odds will be much tougher than before.
