I like this win.
Our game still has a lot of flaws, but winning after such a big deficit feels really good.

This is the first game I've actually felt good about since Golden State.

It didn't really do that much to ease my doubts. But I think it was a good win. We know Donovan almost definitely won't get canned, so this is kind of "best case" OKC basketball under him. Just playing smothering defence, letting that lead to offence, create momentum, get the arena hyped...Felt like OKC basketball of a few years ago. And we weren't taking garbage shots in the 4th quarter, they attacked in the right ways, not in the ways that have previously lead to choking. Nice to see Melo get a couple of crucial buckets after a bad game. And Steven Adams...So much love for him.

I think the last 16 minutes of basketball were about all you can ask for. The bench played well on both ends and chipped at the lead a little, the starters close it out.

Donovan Mitchell is going to be a star, btw. Just unlucky that he had to alternate between PG13 and Robes all night. That's a rough combo

Yeah, I'm actually happy after a game, I'd almost forgotten what that was like.

Our starters seem to be seeing the floor a LOT. Billy showing *some* urgency, finally.

Also, credit (although it took him long enough) to Donovan where it's due: We've finally stopped with the roberson 3 point attempts. Now he's just cutting/driving or passing it back. I'm happy with that.

I owe Dom an apology, I didn't think he'd get near enough shot opportunities for MIP, but if he keeps shooting 80% that isn't going to matter.

I refuse to credit him for a change that most posters with any sense thought was going to happen before the season ever started.

This is relative to what we expect from him. Baby steps for any other coach are actually giant leaps for Billy-kind.

Donovan Mitchell...wow.

His last six games he's averaging 26.2 PPG on 53% FG (55/104), 49% 3P (27/55), 77% FT (20/26), 68% TS

Unless he’s hot, there should be no situation when Melo takes more shots than PG.

Big win against a team that was on a nice streak.

Someone act happy

This IS us happy. We're a depressing bunch.

GUYS

WE RAN OFFENSE TO CLOSE OUT A GAME.

When Melo and PG were hammering the Jazz to end the game? That was Hawk Stagger.

I've been chatting with one of the coaching guys I respect and he identified it. One of their pet plays for PG.

Image

It was either PG stepping into a rhythm shot or Melo coming free off the roll.

Only difference here is that Russ is in the 2 spot and Robes is in the 1.

I know this season so far isn’t what was anticipated, but there is a lot of season left.

Get the bench some help ASAP

I'm curious about the reasoning behind having the play end with the 1 setting a flare screen for the 5. I'm assuming it's to pull the opposing center out of the paint, but unless the 5 is a stretch big it seems like you'd be most likely to get a layup/dunk by setting a back screen, or setting up an opportunity for an open three or lob by having the 5 slip a pindown for the 1.
