2018 Offseason Thread

I can’t think of a great title, so Andre can edit it if he thinks of one.
Current thoughts:
-George re-signing doesn’t mean much if Melo stays.
-Wouldn’t be surprised if ownership reigns Presti in on his spending
- Adams gone?
-Dononvan stays

I think the roster will change more than we expect. I'm confident we can get some value on a PG13 sign and trade (I doubt he will pass on a 5 years contract). Getting something close to the value the Clippers got for CP3 would be nice. Then Presti could decide to move those pieces/picks or not.
I don't really know what kind of money Grant could get. I want him to stay but probably going to cost too much.
I hope we can work on a buy out with Melo but I'm dreaming.
I think Billy Donovan is gone but Presti loves him so much that I'm afraid to be wrong

thunder should move away from a team centered around russell westbrook. or, build a team around him like 2016-17 where he can have 40%+ usage and just break records. he does not have a winning disposition and is not a leader. when the team went down 2-1, his response to call out ricky rubio (who had been outplaying him) and then come out in game 4 playing recklessly and compromising the team's defense was bizarre. who does that? who responds to adversity that way? who talks about winning a championship this year when the team is mired in a slump and is barely over .500? because westbrook did.
there's no internal guidance for him within the organization. there's a collection of sycophants who appear to encourage a lot of these behaviors. westbrook is over-confident and unrealistic. when the thunder were actually a great team, and kevin durant was the leader, there was a saying that followed him around. that saying was 'hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard'. you kno what saying has followed westbrook around the last couple years? 'now i do what i want'.
the team either has to put its foot down on westbrook being the center of thunder universe and actually construct a team instead of a personality cult. or they should just move on from building around him. donovan is a crappy coach, yeah. that's a problem too. i don't think you're building a true contender around westbrook, though.

I’m in the middle between what slick says and the idea that it could have been done if we had the time and assets. At this point, it’s hard for me to get involved in that discussion because the end result is the same- it’s time to start over.

Horne asked Donovan if he had the authority to bench Melo and Donovan answered with 'You know Sam has totally let me coach the team'
Has talked a lot about consistency on both sides of the floor. And has also vowed to improve ball movement.

Well, consistency defines very well Billy D and Melo's season. Not in a good way obviously...

I'd love to have enes back on a contract that's reasonable. It's ironic that we probably would've had a better chance against Utah with him instead of Melo. We can't pay him, so it doesn't matter anyway, but if he was on the team making 6 million then that's a plus in my book. Definitely would've helped in all those matchups where Pat/Grant were giving up 4 inches and 30 pounds.

Being a good guy who sticks up for his team doesn't seem like much of an act.
And yes, he's an awful defender, but he's a rotation piece, something we're sorely lacking on the bench. Role players need to have a defined skillset that matches a role, Enes has one. Get a backup guard that handles and runs the pick and roll, a guy like Enes, a shooter and a run protector and you've got an average bench that won't cost you games.

Abrines and 2k Ferg are in for big years next season
Hopefully Roberson can come back as even 80% the player he was 5 minutes before that injury

I'm not optimistic about the future for either abrines or Ferg. I'm hopeful, but there's not much to suggest they're going to be rotation caliber, let alone difference makers. I like Ferguson, but it's tough to separate liking him as a young thunder player vs liking him as a prospect.

Abrines showed some defensive chops during this series, and it is clear if he actually had sets run for him to get clean looks with some movement he could be a 40%+ three point shooter on 5 to 7 attempts per game

He should 'sticku up for his team' on the court, not be some wannabe tough guy who's more into social media trolling than improving on the defensive end.
