Once I saw that Russ was throwing a big party and PG was going to be in attendance on Free Agency-Palooza Eve, I felt really good about our chances.

It's a shame. The city of Oklahoma City and Thunder fans everywhere poured their hearts and soul into this team and loved Kevin Durant for nine years. And he gets to a point where he "just can't" anymore and makes the most cowardice move in sports history.

But it takes just one year for PG to buy into the OKC and OKC Thunder culture and agree to a 3-year deal when, just one year ago, he was bound and determined to go to LA?

Weirdly enough, this makes me dislike and disrespect Cupcake even more.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

Who is this Katie people are talking about? Tonight is all about pg13 reupping on Russell Westbrook day!

Congrats! My respect level as increased even more for Paul George after signing an extension.
This is an excellent decision for his future. Stability.

thunder's approach to pg was shaped by kd's departure. they didn't do anything like this for kd.

He's getting dragged a bit over this, which is fair—if he wanted to maximize earnings, he should have gone shorter. But my gut says that since he suffered a crippling injury once, he's opting for security.

Man, you even give credit to Durant for PG signing? Also, what is 'this'? Because this party was obviously done already knowing he was going to sign.

i think had sam and the thunder (and, westbrook) approached the kd situation with the care and attention they did with paul george kd might have stayed, too. from the parties to westbrook's cloyingly sweet relationship with george, everything was done differently.

of course, it's harder to really gain that kind of perspective when the guy (kd) has been around for so long. pg came here with his 2018-19 intentions well advertised.

The only real difference was Russ/PG and that may have been Russ trying harder, Russ having grown some, or even just two guys who happen to have more in common. Everything the organization gave George they'd handed to Durant since day one.

Major props to Presti. He gambled and it paid off. I've been critical of him in the past but this was a big time move.

Congrats on keeping your superstar guys. What a great job by Presti and your organization. This guy has some huge cojones. Cheers. I hope they don't hit you with the game tickets to cover for the luxury tax though.

Congrats, guys. That's some commitment from your ownership, your luxury tax bill will be insane. Good to see the silly narrative that nobody wants to play with Westbrook be dealt a serious blow.

Also it's always great to see the Lakers and their incredibly whiny fans screwed over.
