i may have misjudged melo's capacity for trickery. he somehow made capela fat and also ended eric gordon's career. he might be the devil.

The lakers are just not as interesting as the media wants them to be.

I recall people laughing when I said Ryan Anderson was better than Melo last off-season. Now both Presti and Morey, two highly respected GMs, look like idiots for having their choice and picking Melo. I really do not understand how that wasn't obvious to everyone a year ago. Yes, Kyle Korver is also better than Melo despite Melo protesting that fact.

Agree but they will be nice to watch during the playoffs (not that they have a chance to win the west but they will be competitive)

I think they're pretty interesting as long as Rondo continues to fight people.
Add Lance Stephenson to that list and they could be really interesting.

In my opinion an amazing trade for the Sixers acquiring Butler/Patton for Covington/Saric/Bayless/2nd (decent value for Minnesota but I expect the Towns/Saric pairing to be bad).

With that trade and the relatively poor start I would say that the Wolves leave the playoff race (or at least are now a huge underdog).

Can't decide what to make of Philly now. Butler has great obviously but That's a lot of shooting that went out the door.

I think it's a good basketball, but a risky chemistry move. That guy basically lit "his team" on fire in a way we haven't seen in a long, long time. You put him around a bunch of kids...who knows what will happen? It's also a kind of weird move given the age of their core.

I don't know...call me crazy, but based on his play this year I'm not so sure I wouldn't do a Paul George for Covington and Saric trade. That's only assuming, of course, Saric gets back to last year's level of efficiency as the year progresses.

If so, then I'd love this trade for the T-Wolves if they had an already proven winning culture.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

If George’s inconsistency bothers you, Covington isn’t the guy you want.

I would not, ever.

Maybe I'm a hater but Covington and Saric were for me the two most overrated Philly players.
Covington is a good defender, but overrated on that end and far away from the elite ones (like Roberson or maybe George) and a very inconsistent shooter and has very little else to offer.
Saric is a good on-ball and allround player (can handle the ball a bit and seems to have decent basketball understanding/feel for the game), but is a subpar defender (not good enough mobility and no rim protection) who can get exploited on that end and has in my eyes not that much room to grow (imo he is best suited as a ball distributing center).
Not that it matters much, but I assume he is a very awkward fit next to Towns.

George is for me a borderline top 10 player who has right now a bad shooting stretch, which will hopefully vanish.

I don’t see spacing being an issue for Philly. Jimmy isn’t steph curry but he’s a good shooter from three. I don’t think he’s too old that he won’t still be an all star by the time his next contract is up. Embiid can shoot the three too.

They spacing issues come from having a point guard that won’t even attempt a three. The 76ers still have plenty of assets to add another good player. Personally I think they need to move on from Fultz.

No objective person considers George a top ten player. Top twenty is debatebale.

I don't get it. I know Melo has been bad for Houston, but they LITERALLY don't have enough players to field an actual rotation if they waive Carmelo. Just pull him out of games if his shot is off. If they had acquired Butler, then Carmelo is expendable. They already took MCW out of the lineup. Does D'Antoni think that team can survive an NBA season with a 7 man rotation ?
