Seems like there's a pattern wherein NBA players are often the worst evaluators of talent also. They'll defend a guy like Melo while decrying analytics. It's stupefying.

But this isn't just analytics. It's painfully obvious that he's done. You don't need analytics to see that.

Melo seems done, agreed. I would love to see how our last season would've turned out without trading for him.

But I also have to agree that the NBA players seem to have a infatuation with fancy moves/iso-scoring, a prime example of this seems to be Jamal Crawford. Impressive negative on-court pressence, but highly lauded by his peers (and signed by the Suns, which leaves me flabbergasted).
Another, smaller example is the overrating of Kobe, sometimes it feels like his peers actually believe(d) that he is one of the (very top) goats (he was great, no doubt, but he is, imo, a step below the actual all-time best players).

A few Friday night observations-
The nights where Russ gets criticized for taking multiple bad three point looks might be less frequent thanks to Donovan Mitchell.
Markelle Fultz is an absolute bust.
Pascal Siakam is this years josh Richardson for me.

Siakam looks like a completely diffrrent player. I remeber him as long and awkward. Now hes putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot like a 2 guard! Most improved contender for sure

Are the Grizz for real? With the exception of Phoenix, everything else seems like it will be decided by injuries.

If Golden State loses a couple more doesn't Durant have to start questioning rather or not he actually believes he can win without those guys?
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

If he can overcome the ankle issues, Jonathan Isaac will develop into a really nice player.

I think we’ve already established he isn’t content to play with just one allstar.

I think Durant has probably had an inkling for a while about his intentions this offseason. The Draymond incident poured lighter fluid on the situation, but I think Draymond’s comments didn’t come from thin air. A lot of them are probably sick and tired of him taking these short term deals and having to deal with that uncertainty every summer. Draymond just has the lack of self control to verbalize those feelings.

That 2015-2016 season was probably the least fun season as a fan I’ve ever experienced just because of the dark cloud of free agency at the end of the year. It was almost as if the season took a back seat to free agency from the beginning. Warriors probably wish they could just concentrate on securing the three peat, but it’s impossible to not think about the fact that the team could be fundamentally changed on the whims of one guy. A guy that by all indications seems to have one foot out of the door already.....

Sounds familiar.

I agree, and the same is true of the year before Westbrook's FA, and Paul George's FA to a lesser extent. Adams too in 2016. But the fact that these guys all signed long term means that they can go all in with the team and count on some continuity. Obviously for us fans, it's a huge weight off as well.

KD is trying to follow in LeBron's footsteps with keeping options open, and this is generally thought of as the smart move, but perhaps the unintended consequence that people rarely talk about is the morale of the team. It's essentially having 1 foot in and 1 foot out at all times.

When you have proper leverage, like LeBron always does, you can pull that off. With KD, it's different because the Warriors became successful without him and arguably can still be successful without him, and more importantly their core players (Draymond specifically) believe they can be successful without him. So KD's one foot in and one foot out act was going to be called out at one point.

Draymond is way out of line, but he is the mouthpiece for some of the more passive personalities on the team who are thinking the same thing. Either commit and stay long term, or GTFO. We'll be fine either way. That's Draymond's position as I see it, and I think the others probably feel the same.

So what is Charlotte going to do. Kemba is ascending to unimaginable heights, and yet they have one of the worst cap sheets in the NBA.

How do you get out of this mess and possibly build with him? Or do you trade him?

Domantas Sabonis vs. Jazz
19/9/9/2 with 77.8% FG (2/2 3pt) He has 67.8% season FG.

OK I can understand that it is contract year but still..

He has a contract for this and next year, ergo no contract year, just a fantastic player.

In my opinion Sabonis could've been amazing for us, if we where willing to open up minutes at the center position for him.
