Gs is probably top 2 partially because opponents are focused to defend the 3 against them. But yeah they have elite mid range shooters as well (cupcake...)
They could still shoot "open 3s" even if it is only 2 points. They have players that can get to the rim at will in Steph and kd. Yes, OKC has Russ that can do it. The point being that most teams would be trying to get back to shooting in the paint and the defenses would be more congested, but GS would still be against that trend as a long "2" would be as good a shot for them, i.e. Klay, Steph and KD, as a shot at the rim would be for a lot of players.
The only rules set I can think of that would somewhat balance out GS would be 6v6. Think small school girls high school in Oklahoma. You have 3 players on each side of the court and they can't cross the court. This means you always have a set defense. There is no fast break. GS would have to choose between using Draymond on offense or defense. It would be interesting to theory craft out how some teams would actually adjust to that. OKC would have been great for that before the Roberson injury. You never add Melo and go with Russ, PG and Kanter on offense. Then you have Adams, Roberson and Grant on defense.
