Mystery of Andre Roberson's injury recovery

I've been reading about patella tendon injuries lately and thought of Roberson. Did some quick search, and surprised to see there aren't many recent updates on his recovery. This is the latest piece I can find, and it isn't looking good.
I remember seeing a video of him running full speed on a treadmill before the training camp, so there must be some repeated setbacks since then? I know Lin recovered within less than a year (while being 3 years older, and with inferior physique). I thought maybe you guys might know more on Roberson's setbacks and likely return date. Adding him to the roster is going to give GS hell.
Also here to share a very detailed search I saw from reddit though it's a bit outdated. It's quite a good read, specially the part where Adams talk about how lonely Roberson feels while doing his own rehab and the team tried to keep him close to lift his spirit. As someone who is currently recovering from a torn ACL, I feel it very heart warming because I know that feeling too well.

Think he had 2 setbacks. Last one in the end of November (avulsion fracture in his left knee).
OKC is the worst team when it comes to give fans updates about their players health. I mean, Billy Donovan didn't want to say what was happening to Schroeder for missing last game (he was going to be a father that night).
Before that last step back there were some videos of him training and shooting but now nothing. Don't now if he's training at all or not. I don't think he's coming back this year but with the way our organization handle those situations, we never know.
At this point I would be very happy if he comes back healthy next season.

Thanks for creating the thread and sharing some information, but most importantly (regarding your torn ACL):
Get well soon ken!

his rehab was more aggressive than lin's, the thunder set a timeline that 'dre would be back for the start of the season. sometime in the summer they did a scope on his knee to relieve swelling, an elective scope which was done to get him rehabbing quicker than waiting for the swelling to go down naturally. in the press release for that scope the thunder characterized 'dre's rehab as aggressive and that they plan on him being ready for the start of the season.
there wasn't much out of the thunder about 'dre after that. a san antonio local interview with 'dre was the first inkling we got of his status where he hedged a bit on being ready by the start of the year. this is when 'christmas' started being thrown around. when training camp started it became apparent he'd be out longer and would not be ready but the thunder didn't make any comments until he suffered an avulsion fracture which required another surgery. since then only vague reports about him being ready this year sometime.
you are correct that 'dre's rehab is a mystery compared to lin, who by all rights should have been the more difficult case. older, knee has been worked on before, and his dominant knee was injured. lin's rehab was well documented by himself, his trainer, and the nets (who hired his trainer during his rehab).
basically the thunder treat fans like idiots on stuff like this.

Right, saw that avulsion fracture surgery update on Royce Young's twitter, and that's in November. A re-evaluation in 4-6 weeks would be mid January at most, now it's mid February. From that, to Donovan publicly saying "nowhere near a return anytime soon", that's just too big of a gap to be filled with no information.
All major Rockets social media are almost doing a daily countdown on Capela's return. They reported lot of his rehab progress, even when he got his cast removed. Compared to that, and the transparency on Lin's rehab, fans deserve to be kept in the loop. If Roberson was in his contract year, then there could be reasons to be obscure about this information, but he isn't.

Typically we find out stuff after the fact. Royce will tweet out of the blue that “Andre Roberson underwent a successful knee replacement last month. His timeline is 6-8 weeks”. Also if I recall correctly I think russ prp injection was revealed very nonshalantly by Presti in pre season interviews.

This is the most current information i can find. I can't understand how he's supposed to be back when he's not not doingon the court work.

If he's back by the time we start our Finals matchup, I'd be OK with that.

He is probably at the office more than he usually is to rehab. I am just hopping he is shooting FT's all day long. If he can start nailing them, he takes his game to a whole new level.
We need him back in the worst way.

He's been in the league over 5 years. He has practiced shooting them extensively. It is 100% a confidence issue, 6th graders can hit free throws better than him.

You think you could beat him in a FT contest?

No doubt about it.

Do you think the chance he's back this year just increased?

Any updates? Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't watched Roberson traveling with the team to their road games before. He was in Portland yesterday. Is this a sign that he won't come back this year or the opposite? (think he won't but still dreaming a bit...)
