It's time to move forward, on all accounts. As I said, I will not spend a dime watching this team next season with the same lineup and coach. What's the point?

you don't want to watch russell westbrook? i thought part of the reason westbrook's extension was warranted was because no matter how good or bad the team is, we get to watch one of the most dynamic players in nba history?

Westbrook is fine. He just never had the proper team built around him. He's stuck with a 1990's team. Presti had no foresight for this. You can't surround the guy with terrible shooters. It's going to be even worse with Andre **** Roberson next year.

replacing ferguson with 2017-18 roberson would make the team better on both ends. he can't shoot but he does other things on offense. ferguson can do nothing but shoot and he's not even that good at it and only attempts 7-8 3PA/100 possessions.

it was westbrook's inability to make jump shots from anywhere this year is what primarily informed portland's defensive strategy. a strategy they cannot deploy against any other team in the west playoffs so brazenly.

I don't disagree.

If only there was a way to replace the 30% high volume 3pt shooter with a better shooter. OKC has the worst volume shooter in NBA history. They probably should try replacing him with an average shooter. That would make a HUGE difference in the shooting. Hell if the worst volume shooter in NBA history would just stop shooting 3s OKC would be a top ten 3pt shooting team.

Roberson doesn't change anything. With or without Roberson the worst volume shooter in NBA history will continue to jack up too many shots. OKC had THREE players in their starting lineup that shot over 36% from three. They shot a combined 38% on 17.4 three point attempts per game. Throw in the worst volume shooter in NBA history and the starting lineup shot 35.6% on 23 three point attempts per game. Just to put that in perspective, 38% would have been 4th in the NBA in 3pt% and 35.6% would have been tied with 10/11/12. That is how much the worst volume shooter in NBA history is dragging down the shooters that OKC has.

It isn't that OKC doesn't have shooters. It is that they aren't allowed to carry OKC to being a top 10 three point shooting team because the worst volume shooter in NBA history has to take his shots and cost OKC games. The worst volume shooter in NBA history has to take too many shots to get his points. The worst volume shooter in NBA history has to get his assists while trying to lead the league in turnovers because he is assist chasing instead of win chasing. The worst volume shooter in NBA history has to block out his teammates to get rebounds instead of taking off to try to start a fast break and letting his big man come down with the ball because he wants to chase stats instead of points and wins.

Westbrook is THE problem. Russ has led the NBA in FGA in three of the last five seasons! Led the league in turnovers in '17-'18. Has the distinction of the worst assist to turnover ration EVER for someone that averaged 10 assists per game. Russ is a freak athlete that puts on a show. He is in no way interested in winning. He is interested in entertaining and putting up raw counting stats that are irrelevant because of the cost from the style they are attained.

as a team we shot 38% from mid-range which ranked 24th in the nba. take out russ' shots and that rises to 41.9% which would be 7th in the nba.

Royce Young pointed this out the other day. Most of us already knew that was the case but it felt nice seeing members of the OKC media finally addressing the elephant in the room and pointing out how Westbrook's style of play is a detriment to the team's success.

Royce pointing it out is one thing. Getting Presti to accept it and do something about it is something entirely different. Russ is such a bad shooter that trading Russ to Minny for Teague and Wiggins would probably drastically improve OKC's shooting and Wiggins is a terrible volume shooter. Technically, I think it would have to be Russ and Nader for the salaries to match.

Stop trying to make wiggins happen..

Sam must have rose tinted specticals because he seems to think Russ will just be able to improve in his 30s like he did his early 20s so he wont be trading him.

Minny aint silly enough to do that anyway. Their trying to get more shots to Towns not less

OKC needs to trade Schroder to get a quality shooting guard for the starting lineup. I never understood the move to get Schroder anyway because he's basically the same player as Russ and they already had a perfectly capable backp PG in Felton. This team is going absolutely nowhere with Ferguson as the starter and the Portland series epitomizes this fact as McCollum outscored Ferguson 122-23. Ferguson clearly had no business even being on the court in that series...he was completely overwhelmed. It also needs to be said that part of Westbrook's issues with bad shots and turnovers are a result of this team putting a completely inept offensive shooting guard in the starting lineup with him for 30 minutes per game. They're basically telling Westbrook that he has to play 4 against 5 on offense for most of the time he's out there which forces him to take bad shots at times and create turnovers. Russ would be a better player with a good starting 2. I have the perfect player...his name is Jeremy Lamb (15.5 pts. 5.5 rbds. 2.2 asts. 35% on 3s 88% on fts). Oops...I forgot they got rid of him so they could keep the great Roberson! LMAO. If Presti doesn't make any changes to the roster or coach we will see the exact same product next year and another 1st round exit.

Lamb is an inferior player to Ferguson on both offense and defense. Getting to take shots on a bad team doesn't chage that. Ferguson doesn't get shots because Russ isn't will to give him the ball. Russ wouldn't give Lamb the ball. Lamb was inferior or Ferguson in 3pt%, TS% and eFG%. Lamb had over double the usage of Ferguson. If Russ wasn't willing to take not take bad shots and share the ball when he was playing with KMart, Ibaka and kd what makes you think he'll do it for a bum like Lamb?
