Shai continues to spiral. Dennis had 24 shots and we beat a team that were competing for a draft spot for. Not a great night.

The list of players that didn't look like much in year 1 or 2 and went on to become really good is long. That said, man, I'm just not seeing it with SGA. I think we could be setting ourselves up to overpay to keep this dude given how much hope the franchise appears to have pinned on him.

Hot take based on a couple of bad games.

The same could be said for the early reactions at the start of the season, no? It's not like OMG is wrong: They need this kid to pan out in a bad way.

I would said he’s looked pretty average 7 of the last 9 games. His three point shooting has cooled too. I’m not giving up on him by any means. He’s playing like a rookie that lost his confidence, in my opinion. Confidence was not something Shai lacked last year. Some of that is on Shai and his new role and some of it’s on billy. Let’s make an effort to get the kid some easy baskets and get his confidence up again. Like I said before, give Shai To Kerr and Eric Pascall to Billy and do you think both players looks the same?

Of course he was, because Dennis put him in his place during the last game.

Well SGA is struggling, that's on him, but giving so many minutes to Schroeder isn't helping SGA development at all. No issues with CP3 because he needs to play and he passes the ball but Schroeder...

He's twenty one years old. Were you guys expecting consistent all star level scoring? The whole point of this year was growth, and the flashes of what he could eventually be. He's averaging as many points as I thought he'd top out at in his career, I'd like to see more playmaking but he's out of position and in an awful offense. His efficiency has been subpar, but not awful, and not unsurprising for a guy basically doubling his volume.
Go look at a list of guys thataveraged 18+ in their second year. 90+ percent of them made an all star game at some point. That's a pretty good indicator that 'it' is there, unless you think only the Kevin Durant's of the world have 'it'. In which case, you guys set yourself up for disappointment.

I haven't given up on him at all. The ups and downs are expected. We just haven't seen a lot of ups in the last ten games but it hasn't been all bad. He was at 21ppg for a while and that's been steadily declining. If he finished the year averaging that, I'll still view it as a success. If it drops down to around 15, I think hopes will be a little more tempered.
Also, there just isn't that much worth analyzing game to game this season. We hope young guys play well, vets gets traded and we get a good draft pick. Only one of those 3 is something that is a part of each game.

SGA has actually played better than I expected. I know you guys want him to be your franchise player but that is a very elite label. If he can average 18ppg this season with a solid TS percentage that will be a pretty darn good season especially a second year guy.

I know many folks do not want to hear this but despite the bad road record the team is only 1 game out of the playoffs so far.
