One "draft miss" that I don't recall being raised often or ever is Jimmy Butler.

Of course everyone has some, but worth remembering. Maybe asking why. Reggie Jackson over Butler? Did they break the best player available guideline to try to fix the backup PG position? Were they afraid of ruffling the feathers of any of several wings and non-wings? Not a Thunder personality? They try so many defensive wing projects and found a reason to pass on Butler? Huh.

Sam Presti is a dam good GM. He just went on a 10 year run and now has a treasure chess of FRP. He did a lot of learning during the Westbrook years. This is the start of the new beginning. CP3 is going to the NY Knickerbockers. The Thunder are going to get multiple FRP from the Knicks which might even included the #8 selection this year.

Even Cam started to come on a bit in the bubble. He was a helpful addition to that Phoenix team as a backup PG. Maybe getting bounced out of the league sobered him up a bit.

From the article

Rose tried to get Houston to trade Paul to the Knicks last offseason, but former team president Steve Mills wanted no part of reversing his youth movement. The Knicks have stockpiled draft picks for an occasion like this.

Whatever they do with their first pick this year I hope it's RJ Hampton.

I don't really follow the draft too close. What's the appeal? My understanding is he was a very good prospect that underachieved in Australia. I remember his game against the thunder but that's about all I've seen.

He's long, great passer, freak athlete, and a really good character guy. Shot isn't great but isn't bad. I just really like his potential and think he would be a great piece next to Shai.

I wouldn't call Hampton a great passer. He's solid, but not great. IMO.

You would probably know better than me. He's supposed to have a high BBIQ so I equate that with passing skill. I just like him and feel like he could be a steal outside of the lottery. What do you think?

Judging Presti or any gm on his picks in the 20’s is extremely foolish.. the majority of picks past the late lotto don’t even make it to a second contract.

It’s more important to nail the high picks

keith smith posted betting odds from betonline:

Oklahoma City Thunder
A. Grffin - 3/1
M. D'Antoni - 4/1
K. Atkinson - 5/1
N. McMillan - 7/1
D. Vanterpool - 7/1

barring a 2007 celtics-like restock using our future picks, i can't see mike d'antoni being a realistic option. i wouldn't have a problem with any of those other candidates.

Particularly interested in Atkinson and Griffin of those candidates. Griffin less because there's some allegations from his ex-wife that are troubling regardless of his quality as a coach, and I'd like to see that laid to rest before anyone hires him.

I tried to check for an update about those allegations and I can't find one single update since the initial story.

if sam presti can dead-end dennis schroder's aggravated assault charges, this should be child's play.

I mean...yeah. I'd just rather not hire someone if it turns out to be true.

I'm not going to argue CP3 trades on the general board or trade board but if the Knicks want Paul, I expect Presti to really work them over. Unlike the Carmelo trade, we have the leverage this time.
