Oh yeah I was surprised when he signed the contract. Well dude was paid 150K last year and only played 29 games with the Thunder, then Covid happened and you don't know what will happen so having 5 millions guaranteed over 3 years was a big deal for him.
It looks terrible now but I probably would have done the same (maybe a 2 year deal would have been smarter).

I wonder if contenders are trying to trade for him. He isn't THAT good but he can defend against some elite offensive players (depending on their size) and his contract is so good...

If I was Presti I'd be calling Celtics, Bucks, and 76ers offering help.

I think all of them could use some George Hill at the deadline. TBH I won't be able to handle Harden, Green, and Durant winning one together in the same division where Westbrook struggles.

We absolutely shredded their defense...and then they traded Allen. They’ve got some issues before I’m convinced.

Any observations on why his on/off defensive numbers are so good in HC situations?

He's already excellent in weakside defense. He's just as effective in that regard as Ibaka was in his rookie season.

Every pick we have a vested interest in is at or close to that bottom left quadrant, just need the Warriors to get it together on offense at some point

I've watched the warriors. They just don't have the horses. Wiggins is decent but Oubre is worse than him by a lot.

Coach D said he is further along defensively than is offensively. Our bench as a whole hasn't been as bad as expected. I suspect that Poku is benefiting from the play of others like Nerlens and Dennis did from each other last year.

In general, I think the Thunder is an excellent defensive team, given the context of a young, inexperienced, formed overnight team. I give many props to Mike Daigneault for that.

I also think that it's reasonable that second units, in general, suffer the lack of preparation more than first units, which might be the reason why the second unit is producing such good defensive results.

OTOH, I think Pokusevski's On-Off numbers are not a fluke. My eye test confirms the data, he is looking like one of the difference-makers for our second unit's defense. His length and weakside defense are leading to extreme control of shots in the paint.

Many projections about his upside have been made, but I think the closest one so far is Andrei Kirilenko, a potential 5x5 threat.

Agree. Also think that Coach D is making a tremendous job on defense. Diallo/Muscala & co aren't good defenders but our defensive schemes are pretty good.

Dort better be starting, period. Underrated guy in terms of upside. Question at this point is if he works better for the Thunder rotation as a 2 or 3 at this point, imo. Rookie reaching top 10 SG in DRPM without even training with the first team full time? With that level of effort and intensity? This guy is the future as much as SGA.

Looks the part of a more explosive/powerful Marcus Smart type of prospect.

lol no. His ceiling is not really high but he can be a very good role player if he develops a decent shot

In 2013, Oladipo was 21 and went 2nd overall. In 2014 Marcus Smart was 20 and went 6th overall. Dort is 21 with stellar tape vs James Harden. The bottom, of the bottom of his evaluation today would be top 10, in the next NBA Draft, or 2019 Draft do-over. Let's try to be objective here: Dort is a cornerstone of the franchise too.

Called it.

lu dort is crushing D-RAPTOR again, on the boxscore portion. same way as last year, he is drawing a ton of offense fouls and his tracking data has been dominant. dort has drawn 14 offensive fouls this year so far which leads the league. what's odd is that none of those are charges. i think drawing offensive fouls is an underrated and underreported skill for defensive players. an offensive foul drawn is somewhere between a block and a steal in value. dort's ability to draw them while on the ball most of the time, and the frequency he's able to do that, is so far as i can tell a talent unique to him.

None are charges? Does it say how he’s drawing them? Off screens?
