Won't be as fun as yesterday I guess...at least it's nice to give a lot of minutes to Mann and Wiggins

Honestly more impressed with Wiggins than Mann.

This play where Poku comes off a high screen, receives a pass and immediately feeds a slashing Giddey in the paint is how I'd like the Thunder's offense to be designed. Too many good passers to run a ISO-oriented offende.

Poku has 19, 8, and 3 with 1 TO and has the worst +/- on the team. I’m not watching. Is he just playing the world’s worst defense or what?

Sorry I wrote on your own post...rookie new mod mistake

I was saying that JRE is struggling as well and I know it's only preseason but I hate what Presti did on draft night with picks 16,18,34 and 36 (Wiggins looks solid for a late pick). Obviously it won't matter that much if Giddey can be a very good NBA player.

This team is going to be very bad.

But unlike the end of last year, if they're all playing they might be "fun" bad, not "put a fork in my eye" bad.

Nah he looked good tonight. Outside of one pretty costly turnover he played a great game and looked under control.

josh giddey plays with his hair too much. even when he has the ball. it seemed like one of his turnovers happened when a defender swiped at his dribble while he was playing with his hair. on another defensive possession he was pulling his hair back while defending a pnr. the thunder should make him cut his hair or wear a headband or something.

I think it should be "fun" bad if Giddey and SGA are healthy. Gonna be a mess on defense obviously even if Favors helps a bit.

Excited to see the news about Krejci finally being available. Very anxious to watch him play with this group. Giddey lit up in his training camp presser talking about him today.

Don’t forget that they were only “fork” bad once they sat everyone that was good. There are a ton of chippy, team oriented dudes on this squad fighting for their basketball lives. There is a fair amount of playoff experience on this team for such a young group. If they don’t intentionally sabotage themselves via management-edict, they won’t be bottom 5 in the league.

I think this is a key here . If favors help too much they will choose to trade him or rest him .

He’s useful at his salary. And if we trade him and Kenrich as a pair . That might net us a first and a rookie somewhere that haven’t panned out yet.

Well game day and going to admit I'm excited for the season. Hope to see them play well and get a great draft pick.

Giddey’s tough, man. He’s a 19 year old who isn’t afraid to stick his nose down low. He’s got the fight in him. He’ll end up a plus defender. He really is a low floor player.

Think you mean high floor but yes I agree. Had a really impressive closeout on Bojan tonight. His line/usage tonight isn't all on him but it was clear the whole squad had no idea what to do on offense tonight when Gobert was on the floor.

This was a rough Dort game I thought but it stuck out because it was the worst in a while from him. Was a brutal sequence in the 2nd qtr where he lost his dribble then lost his man completely on the other end and had an awful pass to no one on the next possession.

It’s only game one, but I really hope the minutes are distributed differently as the season progresses. Baze at 30 minutes, Theo at 21, and to some extent Favors at 20 and Kenrich at 16 isn’t ideal IMO.

Poku is all over the place with his play on the floor, but he has to get more than 15 minutes.

Agree. I'm not high on Mann and JRE but 14 & 13 minutes seems very low for rookies you just drafted to be part of your core.

Last night was really interesting. JRE was a stand out for me. I think he’s going to be in a Thunder jersey for a long, long time if he continues to play as well as he did.

Sort of feels like we are trying to develop too many players at once at this point. The rotations seemed weird. Didn’t get to watch from start to finish — was in and out of the game — but it seemed like Giddey was being yanked out and put back in towards the end.

I know it was garbage time, but it was good to see Krejci healthy. I thought he showed a little of what he brings to the table in terms of defense. Guard version of AK47, IMO.

Curious who goes to the blue when the G-league starts up. It’s definitely getting to the point where development is going to be difficult for the 2nd tier guys like Ty. He’s a good guy to have on the team but what’s the upside for him 3 or 4 years from now when they are hopefully starting to compete?

It’s a weird spot for dudes like Ty, Theo, and Kenrich. They’re legit NBA players without a ton of value in trades and unlikely to be a big part of the future. There will be lots of guys like that coming through OKC. Agents are going to want to steer mid to late draft picks away from OKC because if they don’t show something early, they’ll end up at the end of the bench or in a trade early in their career.

I think all of the guys on the roster are good dudes and likely to become good professionals. They seem to all get along which is good for keeping a non-toxic atmosphere. But it seems like consolidation trades should be coming soon and often over the next 5 years. It’ll be interesting what the vibe of the team is when they start seeing that half the roster is turned over almost every season. Hard to preach “family” in that environment. It’s also hard to build value unless you are trading the guys you developed to open up playing time for the dudes that weren’t high enough upside to develop in the first place.

I haven't been as excited for a rookie class in a long time. all 4 of our rookies have showed some nice stuff and I think both Giddey and Tre have shown some all star potential. I think Presti hit this draft out of the park.
