Welcome To Our New Oklahoma City Basketball Forum

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Sun Jul 6, 2008 8:40 pm

Welcome to our new forum for The NBA’s Oklahoma City Franchise.

This forum is for fans of the yet to be named NBA Oklahoma City Franchise to discuss their new basketball team.

While this is a great time for Oklahoma City, it is also a difficult time for fans from Seattle.

There will be zero tolerance for threads taunting Seattle fans or bashing the OKC ownership on this forum. This will allow the two sides to move on and look towards the future. The Seattle Supersonics forum will remain open for Seattle fans to discuss the future of basketball in Seattle.

We hope that many new Oklahoma City fans will join this community and make it the place for OKC fans to be on the internet.

Nice to see that this board is launched, and hopefully the Oklahoma City community can grow to love this site as much as some of us have.

3rd post!

Also, good for OKC fans, it must have sucked how they were teased with the Hornets for that little bit. Now they have their own team.

Great to see separation in the Seattle forum being kept, but another forum to talk about the current team. Hopefully the mud throwing from all sides is over and we can talk about a team that is going to be very active in the coming years. Seeing what Presti does with all of the draft picks and young players will be interesting.

Great, a place for OKC fans to gather to support their (new) team.

Any word on when the official name of their team goes public?

Congrats to the city of Oklahoma City and the state of Oklahoma on their new NBA franchise.

This is a great time to be an Oklahoman and I am glad that this forum is up so that the new team and its fans can start to develop a new identity.

Tulsa resident here.

The NY Knicks are my #1 favorite team and always will be. But i'm happy that OKC has a team and I will have season tickets and will support them the 80 games per year when they aren't playing the Knicks. Sam Presti has already proven to be one of the best young GMs in the league and this team is on it's way up. As a life long NBA fan I do feel sorry for fans in Seattle, and it's almost unbeleavable that the Supersonics will cease to exist. Good luck to them in getting the arena situation resolved and getting a new team eventually. I was a big fan of Gary Payton in the 90s and feel he deserves to have his # retired, hopefully Seattle gets a new team and GPs # gets to hang in its right place.

I look forward to discussions on this forum and hope for other okies to join. Oklahoma is severely lacking in NBA IQ and I hope future OKC fans can learn a thing or two from these forums.

I live in OKC and this is a great accomplishment for this city and state. I'm a spurs fan at heart.

When the Hornets were here for the 2 years I was able to get season tickets and loved every second of it as did the rest of this city. Everyone grew to love the Hornets even though we knew that they would only be temporary. It was truly a great time for us when they were here.

Now that we have this new franchise this city is already buzzing. There have been over 11,000 people ask about getting season tickets i believe so that tells how much excitement there is. I think this city is ready to support a permanent team and im so happy the opportunity has came.

I look forward to posting in here as often as possible and hopefully seeing more Oklahoma posters on here!

Welcome, Oklahoma City.

If Sam Presti does with Oklahoma City, what he did as an assistant in San Antonio, Oklahoma City is going to have a great future.

Congrats on the new team guys. I was impressed with the amount of support given to the Hornets especially when there is so much apathy towards teams in some cities. I'm glad you guys have been rewarded.

As unfair as I thought the situation was, I'm still glad Oklahoma fans receive a franchise. They were very supportive of the Hornets after hurricane Katrina.

I'm so excited to have our own NBA team here in Oklahoma City. I live less than three miles away from the Ford Center and I remember when the vote first came on the ballot to raise the tax for Sonics to come, trying to sway as many people as I could to vote for yes to bring the Sonics here. It really is an honor to have our our NBA team. Go whatever the teams new name is!!

It's good to see that Oklahoma City get their own NBA team for a change. I get the feeling that the OK fans should have a good time getting to know the new NBA team and the players as well. Good luck OK.

Like some others have pointed out, the whole move to Oklahoma City probably wasn't the prettiest in league history, but the OKC residents definitely deserved to get a franchise of their own at some point. Seeing how you guys embraced the Hornets during the rough times in New Orleans, you guys definitely showed the NBA was welcome in OKC.

As an NBA fan and a person that's pretty high about principles, I've got mixed feelings about the whole situation. I'm not a fan of the way things went and won't ever think too highly of Clay Bennett, but I definitely don't blame the OKC residents for their excitement either.

Starting out with Kevin Durant and Jeff Green already gave this team great promise for the future, and now Russell Westbrook is looking like he could become quite a good NBA player as well. Definitely a great young core for OKC to start growing into a capable NBA franchise and for the new NBA fans to embrace. Best of luck guys.
