How good will he be at his peak, and how long will it take him to get there?

This may be crazy but i'm seeing Durant getting up to about 235 or 240 and being a more perimeter oriented Kevin Garnett. I'm seeing his peak stat line being about 28ppg, 8rpg, and 6apg.

I don't understand why everyone is so convinced that Durant will just up and leave after his Rookie Contract.

Assuming he would even want to leave (at this point a bis assumption), he would have to forgo a lot of money. And we're talking about a guy forfeiting money on his 1st big deal, not when he's 35 and ring chasing. I just don't see this as something very likely.

Oklahoma City would be able to offer him the most money, the longest deal, and the biggest raises -- that's why Bird Rights are in place.

It's not a matter of his contract it's more of the endorsements and marketing, sort of the way Lebron may up and leave Cleveland because he would make a TON of more money playing for a bigger market like New York.

I understand what Bird Rights are.

I think a player of Durant's caliber could easily make up the salary he would lose by signing somewhere else through endorsements. Like it or not, and my Blazers are the same boat, only a little better, players like to go to big market teams. Durant giving up 100 million to go to a team like Chicago hypothetically for 86 million would be a = venture. He would more than make up the 14 million in endorsements. He would be playing for city he wanted to, and for an owner he liked.

He has said in Seattle papers already that he does not want to play in OKC, and has already called Bennett a fat ass.

I think the difference is that Chris Paul likes where he is, and doesn't appear to have a hatred for the owner.

Kevin Durant averaged over 20 PPG in a high school kids body with great shooting percentages for a rookie (especially a 19 year old one at that). He scored as good or better than rookies like Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James despite weighing only 215 pounds. He'll never be strong, but when he puts on 10-15 pounds of muscle and continues to refine his game he will be an unstoppable force. One of the best scoring machines of all time.

That supposed hatred was based on some guy on the radio that said some one else heard from someone else, that Durant said something about Bennett. No one ever came out and said that on the record. The people at the Seattle Times Forum repeated it so many times they believed it was true, imagine that, but no one actually heard the quote.

Nah, his body wouldn't do well with that kind of weight, I think he'll play closer to 225, and he's not a prolific enough passer to rack up that many assists. He's really not a creator though, he's more of a finisher, which is great IMO, I like guys who can get there points without dominating the ball.

I could see him doing 28/8/3 though. Once he really adjusts to the NBA 3, he's going to be a monstrous shooter.
