would you trade for Bargs?
PROS-
a good shooting big-we dont have
cheap contract
value low
worth a gamble-what can we lose
former 1st overall pick-potential
CONS-
potential bust
soft seven footer
european?
gamble
Personally with the postion we are in at the moment 1-10 I am well up to take a gamble on him maybe a fresh challenge and guaranteed minutes the potential that got him drafted with the overall first pick maybe will be relized.
what do you guys think I would trade collison straight up who seems uninterested and needs to moved.

Allow a Raps fan to give you an idea of who he is
He was the second best Rookie in his rookie year. Last year he started strong then got into a knee on knee collision with Stromile Swift late Nov. and that hurt his shot badly. As the year went on he was constantly sick and sucked. For stretches he'd be not sick and actually would look good.
Over the summer he had a surgery to remove his adenoids(sp?) and went to the Impact clinic in Vegas where he developed his body quite a bit, improved his defense, learned some post up moves, added arc to his shot, learned English, and actually became confident again.
This year he's only behind Roy in PER from his draft class and can play SF, PF and C.
He's looking like a blue chipper again and his drives are now successful because he learned how not to travel when pump faking. He has range out to 3 and is good in the post.
He is a horrid rebounder but he does box out very well and his team mates have always had inflated rebounding numbers because of it.
He is a perfect compliment to Durant and Sene and his value is climbing steadily.
He has made the transition from "Bustnani" back to "il mago" on our hyper critical board and that should tell you a lot. For more info on Bargnani you can visit the Raps board and find 100 threads on him.
Bargnani is no longer considered Soft he is actually very tough since Vegas and is throwing people around in the paint and drawing fouls.
Here is a poll that address this perception:

Re: would you trade for Bargs?
I look at him as a bench player....
Bad rebounder... not a shot blocker
Bargnani and Kapono for Wilcox and Mason....

Re: would you trade for Bargs?
He's 20th in the league in Blocks per 48mins, 28th in Blocks per Game.
And has almost as many blocks as OKC best 2 shot blockers combined.
Smith and Collinson combined have 17, Bargnani has 16.
As for bench player Bargnani would instantly be your starting big he's improved so much the Raps have him starting at SF then rotating to PF when Bosh or O'Neal sit.
And for rebounding well I did mention that was his horrible weak spot

He's a decent power forward, but we already have too many chuckers on this team. We need a strong personality, a leader that will go to the hole and rally the team, not some soft 4/5 that takes 15ft jumpers.
I'd take him for sure tho.

THEN COMPARE THOSE GUYS
Sorry if you are getting upset but here's the info you want:
Joe Smith: 247mins and 8 blocks
Nick Collinson: 322mins and 9 blocks
Total: 569 mins and 17 blocks
Andrea Bargnani: 271mins and 16 blocks
Does that make it clear?

Chuckers ?
Seeing your shooting numbers (expecially from 3), the first need of OKC is SHOOTERS, expecially from downtown.
And stop to play a starting 5 with just 1 guy that can shot 3s ... check the other teams ... they have always at least 3 shooters on the floor ...
And stop to play that poor guy Durant at SG ... c'mon ... he's a SF-PF ...
"hot" problems for OKC
1) zero shooters
2) all your PF-C have got near zero offense (at least outside of 2 ft from the bucket)
3) move Durant to his positions (SF-PF)

Hey, Raps fan here,
Would you guys do a package around Westbrook plus one of your little used bigs as a filler for Bargnani?

Westbrook,Durant and Green I believe are in future plans and wont be traded unless unbelievable offer comes .Bargs I look as good gamble but not worth westbrook at this stage.Anyone outside these three I believe a deal can be pursued.

Re: would you trade for Bargs?
What's so outrageous?
Bargs is a starter. He's a seven-footer who hits threes, defends and blocks shots. His numbers across the board have improved greatly since his first big man camp. He's what? 22-23 years old?
I think Westbrook is going to be solid. Very solid. This is nothing against him but to say (angrily) that Bargs for Westbrook is not fair for OKC is absurd. They're both young and getting better.
edit: For the record, I'd be pissed if BC traded Bargs for Westbrook. Again nothing against Westbrook, but I like Bargs. BC would never do this either so it's all moot.

If you would like to keep him cool. But your response makes no sense, and judgin by your responses in this thread you're just talking about stuff you don't know about.
Bargnani's putting up better numbers then Westbrook, and the only reason he's not getting big minutes on a good team is because he couldn't get many minutes behind a couple top notch 4/5's at the start of the season even though he's outplayed J.O often. Westbrook's fighting for minutes on a bad team.
If you want to get something you have to give up something. Colangelo just turned down G Wallace for Bargnani so we're not going to just give him up for crap. A 1-12 team isn't full of untouchable players or anything.
btw, since when has being from a preticular continent become a Con?

Bargnani and Ukic for Wilcox? If your GM thinks along those lines, the Thunder will be moving to Waco before much longer. Suck ass for another decade. See if we care.

Re: would you trade for Bargs?
Not sure if the Raptors Brass trades Bargnani or even considers it unless something insane comes along.
Bargnani regressed last season over a fairly impressive rookie campaign to the point where his value was very low in terms of a trading asset, now all of a sudden Bargnani has realized he is 7 feet tall and has the means to rebound and block shots in the NBA. His last half dozen games have been pretty solid not just on the stats sheets but he actually seems to understand man to man defense now which is a huge stride forward over last season.
While Bargnani value may be higher then it was, with his improvements as of late I think the Raps will just hold out and see what they have.
