OKC / ORL Nick Collison to Disney World

Post#1 » by leo6287 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 4:54 am

OKC Trades Nick Collison to Orlando 4 Keith Bogans and Brian Cook

Why For OKC: To get rid of one of there largers contracts for even more cap space ... Saves them 8 Million dollars in the next 3 years...

Why for ORL: Orlando is making a playoff push and needs a solid Big. are willing to part with Cash and a future 2nd round pick

yeah, doesn't really do much for me. Collison has been playing well lately, and I don't really think the Thunder are looking to get under the cap via a firesale like the Knicks may be. I think the flexibility is good, but ultimately they're trying to build via the draft and player development.

Reddick is a bit more interesting to me. But unless it has to do with Watson or Wilcox, I'd rather we just take a wait and see approach into the offseason. We need to see how the draft pans out and what kinds of players are available in FA/trades before trading a guy who potentially could be a piece of this team down the road.

Wilcox or Smith for Cook, Reddick and a future #1 in any year as long as it falls between #10 pick to #15

maybe

I think asking for a #1 is a little overboard... I don't know if there's a team that would give us a mid-round #1 for either of those guys alone. Maybe I'm underestimating them? Not sure..

Yeah, with Collison I think that becomes an option... but with Wilcox and Smith both having probably lower value and being expiring, I don't think many teams would be willing to float a 1st for that.

No reason to hate on the Orlando fans... they're just trying to discuss potential deals. It's not like he's saying we should trade Durant for Cook.

leo, I just don't think we're probably interested. Now, if we could get potential future assets for Wilcox or Watson, Thunder fans may be a little more receptive. Especially with the current "run" of wins we've gone on (I know, not much by Magic's standards, but a heck of a lot better than what we dealt with for the first 30 games of the season).

Personally, right now, I see Collison as a very valuable backup PF/C for us down the road (when we're hopefully a good team in a couple of years). I would like to keep him around, and a late 1st and a couple of everyday bench players probably won't change my mind :)

Lee would fit nice in that vacant position either as starter or as future 6th man

I think GSW would give S Jackson for Collison...though maybe it has to include Marcus Williams and Dez Mason, expirings to balance the cap. OKC gets a scoring SG who's als good on D. GSW gets a guy who rebounds. Not sure if OKC wants to re-up Wilcox.
CENSORED... No comment.

There's only one player (in a trade that would make sense) on the Magic I'd want and that's Courtney Lee. I think Seattle would've drafted him if Orlando didn't snatch him at 22.
