Now that Jameer Nelson is injured and Orlando badly needs a decent point guard before the trading deadline, it seems that they may come asking about Earl Watson. Considering their desperate position, what should the Thunder ask for in return?

Lee could be a solid complement to Westbrook in the backcourt. Great defender, solid shooter, can do a bit of everything, doesn't demand the ball a lot, which is kinda important for this team. Would you throw SA or DEN pick for that deal?
Then again, I'm sure OKC was in a position to pick him in the draft but passed?

We had the 24th pick and Orlando snatched him at 22. I think Seattle would've drafted this kid if he were still around at 24 considering the fact we picked up Weaver to fill that hole at G.

You said it. He's EXACTLY what we need at SG. A 6"5 guard who can defend both guard positions, has speed, decent athleticism, plays hard nosed defense (amazing for a rookie), can score from deep, attacks the rim, does not force the issue, knows his role perfectly well but can fill it up if needed. And he has the upside to become even better.


I would trade Watson + any of those SA/DEN picks for Courtney Lee, but the Magic wouldn't bite. They love this kid for obvious reasons.

Yeah you're right there's no way they are trading Lee.

I think if the Thunder wanted to just trade Watson for expiring contracts, they could've done it quite a while ago. The Magic won't be willing to offer anything more, but that's why we probably won't end up trading him to them...
