Ok now with Joe Smith gone as a trade chip how can the thunder still land John Salmons?
Two of their more desirable pieces have been shipped off in the Chandler deal which was a no brainer.
So what would the Kings bite on to send John Salmons to the Thunder? Not sure if anyone on either side would be in love with the deal so maybe it is a fair one.
Thunder send out
Desmond Mason expiring
Earl Watson 6.2mil 2 years (including this year)
Kings send out
John Salmons 5.1mil 3years
(Gulp) Beno Udrih 5.5mil 4years
First off the Thunder land John Salmons and complete their line up of
PG Westbrook
SG Salmons
SF Durant
PF Green
C Chandler
Obviously the Thunder have to take back some extended salary in Beno but decent back ups are a nice insurance policy. There is a reason why the Earl Watson's, Luke Ridnour's, and Beno's all have big contracts. Because they can run the point somewhat effectively.
I started to hate Earl a lot less when he was on the bench. But it's nice to know if Westbrook ever goes down with an injury the team isn't completely hapless. Same goes for a guy like Beno.
Plus just about every team has on contract where there is a guy getting overpaid to ride the pine.
Love it?
Hate it?
Be willing to swallow Beno contract because of Salmons?

Re: New Salmons scenario?
Yeah, I think that's still a legit option. The other option (depending upon if the Kings would be willing) might be something like Desmond's expiring contract and our 2 late 1sts for Salmons.
Both of them are decent trades that should help mold the Thunder into the team they want to be and have them playing at a very high level as soon as the start of next season.

Re: New Salmons scenario?
Would OKC really give up two 1st round picks for Salmons? I would think something like, Mason/Weaver/DEN 1st for Salmons, IMO. Do you value Weaver more than SA's 1st?

Re: New Salmons scenario?
wiff was ready to give up a top 5 pick for Chandler
We have an abundance of 1st round picks right now, so if we can leverage that to keep the solid assets we have while finding the remaining pieces we need, then I'm all for it. At this point, I know I'm thinking this. Of course, a lot of this probably has to do with why I'm not an NBA GM, haha.
As far as Weaver, man I really don't know. I would say that his value is probably somewhat equal to that of a late 1st round pick. He was an early 2nd round pick and I feel he's worked out very well for his draft position. So yeah, I think I'd maybe rather keep him than the San Antonio pick. There are probably posters on here who would rather keep him than our top pick
