I'm guessing Loud City will not be high fiving each other in the streets for this one?
Bummer... what a letdown.

He had an expiring contract plays the same position as Jeff Green and doesn't like to play D or improve his game.

Re: Chris Wilcox for Malik Rose
Yeah... very pointless.
The only silver lining I can hope to get out of this, is maybe our frontcourt rotation has a little less randomness (sometimes Wilcox or Smith would get 20 minutes, leaving Collison, Krstic or even Green on the bench for too long). The other thing is that this puts ~2 mil in the pockets of the owners, maybe that will make them more willing to spend a bit in the offseason? Man... if you can tell that I'm really reaching to find something good, it's because I am.

Re: Chris Wilcox for Malik Rose
Congrats on Malik Rose:
Strengths:Rose is an experienced veteran presence. He is a terrific character and a superb locker room presence. You could call him a leader.
On the court he will give you 100% every night---he does not take any possessions off. He lacks some of his past athelticism and therefore gets blocked quite often when he tries to make a lay-up underneath but he'll never give up and usually grinds it out till the end.
He also tries to hit midrange jumpers every now and then although he rarely hits them. But being a positive dude he really never gives up and doesn't hang his head. He also has a few post moves although they never seem to work really. Even if the opposing player buys into his pump fakes he still gets blocked by him.
I also heard that he has a good sense of humor.
weaknesses:he isn't really quick anymore....sometimes you can't tell whether he is running or walking up the court and compared to the other 9 guys (or 12 if you include the referees) it seems as if he moves in slow motion.
Anyone I hope this trade works out well for you guys and that Malik can make up for Chandler's loss.I don't think he'll be quite that defensive presence but he is a much better leader and locker room guy and has a better sense of humor than Tyson. He also doesn't have a turf toe.

This is really pointless. We swapped a guy who isn't in the long term plans, who doesn't play much, and who is an expiring straight up for a guy who isn't in the long terms plans, who won't play much, and is an expiring.

He is a good locker room presence in contrast to Wilcox.

Maybe they'll be able to buy him out for a few mil, and save a little bit more money?

I'm not going to tell you that Malik rose is a useful player. he's not. He's 3-4 years removed from his borderline useful days and 5-6 years removed from his efficient enough to help an average team days. The dude is short, but he is physical and he's never shot better than 50% in his career, but he understands defense and he's an OK rebounder, but per 40 minutes, no better than Wilcox.
What Malik will bring you is wisdom. Malik took David Lee under his wing and David Lee has great things to say about him. He's almost certain to get a coaching job somewhere next year. He's a good character guy who might help your young big men get better and he'll serve as an extra coach in practice.
That being said, Malik is, probably among the 20 worst players in the NBA right now. Maybe worst 10. He's pretty much useless, even with his playing hard and inteligent, unselfish play, he's a 6'6, slow PF without much lift and not much of a shot. He's done. Kaput. Finished.
But I don't think your team should cut him, because he could be a useful practice player for your young guys.
Knick fans thank you guys for this trade. Obviously, your management did it for the cash, and cause they figured they wouldn't resign Wilcox, but from our perspective, Wilcox will probalby be our starting center for the rest of the year. It was a nice trade for us, not so much for you, but your team still has a nice young core.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!
As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

Re: Chris Wilcox for Malik Rose
We don't really need a scouting report on Rose, he will get a lot of DNP-CD's and will leave in April. But thanks and good luck with Wilcox, I'm sure he will do very well under D'Antoni.

Re: Chris Wilcox for Malik Rose
I would think if anything they were doing Wilcox a favor. He was rotting away in OKC. He is in a contract year.
He should thrive in New York with D'Antoni.
Presti has old ties with Rose from San Antonio.
Maybe Rose will be groomed for an assistant coach?

I just went over to the Knicks board, shouldn't have done that.

Hey guys quick question: I know Wilcox isn't a good defender at all but can you give me a small report on his defense/effort overall (man to man defense, help defense etc.). Much appreciated. And if you have paid attention to Lee than if he is a defensive upgrade over Lee or not.....Thanks.

I think that there is some method to the madness of this trade if you look back a little ways. In 2007 the then Sonics had Kurt Thomas who was the veteran/mentor in the locker room. When Thomas went to San Antonio, the Thunder brought in Joe Smith to be the veteran/mentor in the locker room; and now with Smith almost out the door with his much deserved buyout, the Thunder bring in Rose to be the veteran/mentor in the locker room.

He'll be coaching in this league for someone next season. He's got a great understanding of the game and is great at mentoring players and promoting team play.
