Why am I a Laker hater???

Post#1 » by Durantist » Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:21 am

Hi guys! Im from Kobe town and I've been a laker hater since the early 90s. I've been a die hard Sonics fan for the longest time, dating back to the KG (Kendall Gill) days! Alright here is the inside to why I hate the Lakers:
1. They are all about NOW NOW NOW: Fans are there thru the good times and bad times! When the Lakers had that losing season a couple years back...fans immediately pointed out the bad and played the "Blame" game instead of pointing out the bright side, upside of things and how to address the weaknesses! Most of them honestly didn't even Know who Andrew Bynum was when he was drafted! I mean comon! Once I heard about the Kid from Bakersfield, CA (Robert Swift), I tuned in to watch the HS All-Star game just to check him out, BECUZ i knew the Sonics needed a Center!
2. KOBE : Kobe treats other fans like a pile of dump. Better yet he treats his teammates like they were his soda cans, easily recyclable! I respect many Laker players like Shaq, Fisher, Horry and so many others, But I will never respect Kobe!!!
3. It just feels good! : Lets face it...if it weren't for the Lakers there isn't a team out there to hate on. Seeing Kobe's face when he misses a game winner, Listening to Phil Jackson whining to the refs, is just the best feeling in sports! Being a Laker hater just brings out the DRAMA for basketball fans.

PS. As for the Clippers....no comment! lol

I like the Lakers. They are one of my favourite team. You have a right to have your own opinion.

Ehh, don't care too much either way. Spurs are definitely the team I "hate" most, but even that has subsided a bit since falling away from being a big Suns fan for the last 10 years or so.

I've never liked Phil Jackson much, but I'll take any opportunity I can to watch Kobe play. I think if there was one player I had to watch play, it would be him, closely followed by Joe Johnson (personal preference).

I can definitely see how the Lakers would be easy to hate. But usually how it falls is that hating a team is a sign of respect, because if they were the Clippers, you just wouldn't pay any attention :)

I absolutely despise the Lakers. I have since I was a kid and they rolled out Kareem, Worthy, Magic.

I have respect for them but I simply can't cheer for them. Well except for one. Eddie Jones was my favorite non-Sonic when he played for the Char Hornets. Then he got traded and he was the one Laker who I kind of liked.

But as a kid I did learn to appreciate defense with Michael Cooper and that you don't have to score to affect the game.

But all and all pretty much my second favorite team in the league is who ever is playing the Lakers.

I used to hate the Lakers like mad when Shaq betrayed the Magic by bailing to LA. Then it became the Shaq and Kobe show for 8 seasons alongside the arrogance the rest of the Lakers displayed every game. I remember somebody would always get into it with a Laker from Chris Childs punches Kobe, to Doug Christie taking it to Rick Fox for example. It took to 2004 when the Pistons beat the Lakers 4-1 that I eventually got over my hate for the Lakers. Basically due to the loss at the Finals marked the end of the Shaq/Kobe tenure.

Man... I HATED Rick Fox. He was probably my least favorite player when he was still in the league. Ginobili has that honor now.

1. Kobe, the philanderer/rapist, his ego, his treatment of others. Even if he's great at basketball, how can anyone cheer for a human being like this?

2. 90% of RealGM posters from the Laker Board. Every team has some good posters and some bad ones, but maybe its something about the Lakers susccess that makes them so childish and arrogant. "Bynum could only be traded for LeBron or Dwight Howard?" "Is Kobe the Greatest of All Time?"
